My second Little boy L was eventually diagnosed with silent reflux when he ended up in hospital with bronchilitus at 9 weeks and the thicker milk which i had him on as the GP and HV thought he had colic started to choke him literally. I've always known there was something not quite right, little L would arch backwards while feeding and be very uncomfortable most of the time, crying and nothing would seem to comfort him other than swaddling him. We spent hours trying to wind him and when he did it was obvious it was painful as he screamed or wretched when the wind came up. It's impossible to take him out in his pram or lay down flat and feeds constantly every 1 -2 hours. Since being in hospital L has been on infant gaviscon which seems to be helping although now he's no longer on the thicker milk (for fear of him choking again!) i still struggle to get anything more than 3 ounces down in one sitting! He's started to sleep more through the night but still not happy in his car seat or pram and am haivng difficulty filling him up (he's a healthy weight) which is quite frustrating sometimes as it seems any concerns you have about your baby can be ignored if they are putting on weight! He seems a little better at the mo but am considering trying a tiny bit of baby rice in the afternoon just to fill him abit more so he can sleep. Any comments greatfully recieved. I've been suffering from bad PND as a result of feeling inadequate as a mum even though my 2 year old has had no problems at all!
