LittleRefluxers

I have just read a post I put on this site a year ago, what I would love to say is how life has improved, unfortunately that is not the case. In fact we are due to see Dr Shah at GOSH this month, I am hoping for a miracle. My son is almost 4yrs and he still suffers with reflux. Unbelievable to think what he has gone through. He is still on Omeprezole, still sleeps with a wedge, still has to keep still just after food, still has to use a baby cup when drinking to control the flow. He controls his sickness so we rarely have that problem although he suffers a lot of pain. He cannot run or jump without having to swallow back the acid / food and I seem to nag him to keep still a lot of the time.
I assume this all means that he will never grow out of this problem now (he has other gastro issues too) and I was wondering if anyone has experience of the operation that they sometimes do for reflux. I have heard its only about 60% successful. I just want to be prepared in case that is our only option that is left.
Many thanks, Helen

Hi Helen
Just wanted to ask how you are getting on now? Did meds work for sam?

Hi Kelly, thanks for asking! Sam is doing really well thanks - something I thought I'd never say! We have had glimmers of a "normal" child who is happy, relaxed, focused, sleeping soundly, behaving wonderfully, out of pain and can sit still! Reflux is improving but still not great and Sam does still have bad periods which we can't necessarily explain which is frustrating. We next see Dr Shah on April 20th and I want to talk to him about
Eosinophilic Disorder as I believe that is what he is treating Sam for but he didn't actually mention it. He sent a letter to our local Paed and mentioned trying to trace Sam's biopsies (taken 18 months ago) and looking for
eosinophils on them?! We shall see what he says in a couple of weeks. How is Callum doing? When do you go back to GOS? Does he still have ups and downs on his diet & meds? Do you find that people understand his condition? Thank goodness for the spring weather as Sam generally has better health at this time. Take care Kelly.
