LittleRefluxers

I have a little boy called Theo, he is now 9 months, i have been at my wits end, because he is a big lad they are not so worried about his condition. He has been put on a number of drugs but to no avail, he is due to have a barrium swallow latter on this month i do hope this will shed some light on the problem. I find it very hard to deal with as no one wants to hold him due to this constant sickness, i am a mum on my own and he is my third my husband cant cope with illness!! and wont help. if any one has any ideas that could help please let me know

Hi Rachel,
Sorry you are finding it hard at the moment. I know how difficult it can be, especially as other people don't really understand much about reflux and how draining it is looking after a sicky baby. My son is now 13 months, and although he was 2 months prem, he was 5lb when born. I do think people are a bit more relaxed when your baby is bigger and I know it's hard to get the right treatment, as lots of GPs dismiss relfux outright, especially if baby is thriving weight wise!
I do hope the barium swallow will shed some light on Theo's condition and you will get some better treatment for him. My son is seeing his consultant tomorrow (with him being prem, we have been followed up by a paediatrician - which is very fortunate, as otherwise we would have had little input at all). We are hoping he will be put on domperidone, alongside the ranitidine and gaviscon he is already on. this has been recommended by the dietician (who advised us to keep him dairy free for the time being, as he suffers with terribly painful flatulence and tummy cramps) and the speech therapist (who we saw because of his poor tolerance of lumpy food and his sickness).
Are you seeing a specialist with Theo (I guess so with the barium swallow being arranged)?! Sorry I don't have any pearls of wisdom, but I wanted to get in touch and let you know that you aren't alone. Do keep in touch.
