Go back to the docs and demand a referral to A&E or go straight to hospital and refuse to leave till they see you - you need to see a paed xx

Hiya, If its not made her better then I'd go back to the docs and ask for something else. Give it a couple of days just to check - a lot of reflux meds seem to take a few days to kick in, but persist with asking the docs for more help. Its a…

Hi Sharlene,
My names Helen and I live in Wigmore, Rainham. I really sympathise with you, my son was diagnosed with silent reflux at 6 weeks although I think he had it from birth, my H.V first picked it up, we went to our G.P in Parkwood and he was prescribed Gaviscon, I gave it week but it wasn't enough, my G.P rang the paediatrician at the Medway and he was seen that afternoon and put on Domperidone, since then he has had a lot of different medication and we are still struggling to releive his symptoms. If you don't have any luck with your G.P then speak to your H.V, I found ours very supportive. Our son is now 6 months and its hard work with a baby with refux, he only sleeps for about 15-20 mins during the day before he wakes, take all the help and support that you;re offered from friends and family as it just makes it a little easier to get through. Please let me know how you get on.
Good luck
Helen

Sharlene,

I know this is not going to be any help at the moment but I have finally come through the other side with both my girls now eating and sleeping really well. Though like all toddlers they have thier moments. The only recommendation I can pass on is don't give up on gaviscon but you need to get a referral to a specialist who understands reflux. They will introduce more medication but it will ease the discomfort. I can honestly say that is prob only about 4 months now that I feel like and mum and enjoy it. Before I just felt like a nurse giving medicine to a very unhappy little girl.

Please know that you are not alone and it will be a struggle that is worth it in the end.

Thinking of you
Angie

Hi Sharlene,
Kirsty seems a very good H.V as well, mine is Doreen and she is brilliant, she even rang on Christmas Eve to see if Hueys new medication was working!, thankfully this one seems to be he has stopped the screaming and the reflux has definetly got better, although it is still there, he seems a much happier baby. At the moment I don't really leave him for any length of time and its very draining. Huey is my fifth child but its like being a first time Mum again because his daily care is so different from all the others, he is on three different kinds of medication plus gaviscon in his feeds and we see the consultant again on 19th January, I cannot fault the paediatric department at The Medway they have been very good. Hope you have a good New Year, let me know how Lola gets on.
