Hiya allThis is juat a quicke as Reuben sounds like he's just waking up. Briefly, my DS Rohan was born oct 2007 with silent reflux and CMPI, we went through 2 years of hell but im proud to say that he's come through the other side and doing really well, albeit a few food issues/ENT probs. My second DS, Reuben was born this May. we had 3 days of a blissfull average newborn,......then the noises and straining noises started. Yes, reflux with CMPI, we love him dearly but it was such a blow. He was…See More

A few good days... at last!

Hi ladies

i just wanted to share my positive news with you. Without tempting fate, Rohan has just had 3 good days. Last night he had a 6 hour sleep block where he only stirred a few times wothout needing to be comforted. I know it's only a matter of time that we have a bad one, but i feel so elated. I really felt rock bottom like i couldn't go on last weekend, it's almost as if he knew his mummy needed just a bit of a break. The omeprazole and weaning seem to be at last helping him,… Continue

Omeprazole side effects?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has experienced sleeplessness with omprazole. My son rohan has been on it for a couple of weeks now- im glad to say his pain seems to have reduced which is blooming fantatsic but his night sleeping has got alot worse. At first i put it down to a growth spurt, but it's gone on for too long now. Literally, he used to sometimes go 3-4 hours on a good day but now he's waking so much. It's a catch 22 situation as im so pleased that he seems in less… Continue

My experience so far.....

Hi ladies, just have to say how grateful i am to have found this site today- support at last!

My son Rohan was diagnosed with silent reflux at about 5 wks. It seems that we went through a similar time as alot of you out there with GP's, Midwives and Health Visitors. Rohan was never settled from birth, we put it down to a traumatic birth and he had to have treatment for jaundice. To cut a very long story short, my breaking point was when the HV had the cheek to suggest that being a…

Hi Sally
I read your questions about the Omeprazole. My daughter Alexandra has been on it for about 3 months now. She is on 20 mgr at the moment, but she started on 5mgr as well. We were given Losec Mups tablets and we were told to break them in half and disperse them in cooled boiled water. So that's what we have been doing whenever her dose required to break a tablet in half (ie: 5 or 15 mgr) The only thing about dispersing the tablets is that you get some powder residue which Alexandra used to not like at all. We then switched to the liquid form- our GP gave us the prescription, I know some people have got problems to get one because apparently it's quite expensive. Unfortunately the solution would make my daughter wretch so we moved back to the tablets and, after a few days she got used to them.
If Rohan doesn't tolerate the dispersed tablets, you could ask your doctor to prescribe the liquid form.
Hope this helps.
Take care

Hey Sally, thank your for your message. Shaan was doing so well up until her jabs last week then her reflux heightened.
We were at Great Ormond Street Hosp today, they are convinced her symptoms are not down to her floppy larynx but reflux. So we have pushed for another appointment at our local hospital with the gastro team. I agree- people seem to think i am moaning about reflux all the time too, they only see a small snippet of her episodes. Whereas we are dealing with it all day, seven days a week.
Shaan is now associating her feeds with pain and negativity. Every feed now is a battle, if i let it have it her way, she will simply not drink. I just hope Shaan will not be put back on a nasal gastric feeding tube. Will keep you posted with our appointment at the hospital tomorrow.
Hope you are having a good day with Rohan.
once again, thanks for responding to my message.

Hi Sally, nice to hear from you! Glad that you managed to get the issue with intolerance sorted. I bet that put your mind at rest for a change. It is one step at time with them isn't it? Frustrating when you can't get online, I suffer withdrawals symptoms! LOL

Hi Sally

Thank you for your message. Was lovely to hear from you. I was only thinking the other day I hadn't been on for a while and must pop back on! I've added to William update thread, he's growing another tooth at the top at the moment, which is upsetting him more than the bottom ones. Poor chap, we've resorted to Calpol quite a bit recently. Hope Rohan is doing well and that his teeth aren't keeping him awake too much
