hi folks can anyone tell me their views on weaning a baby before 4 months say 2 months as an effective treatment for reflux? Does this work?

Hi John,
It is not recommended that babies are weaned before 4-6 months (4 supposedly only after discussion with HV) as their bowels are not mature enough and they may not get the calories/optimum nutrition they need. 2 months would be too early. Some people find weaning helpful for reflux but some babies worsen. If it is to thicken to keep the milk down Gaviscon can be helpful.

Have you tried any meds?
I have been told by many people that he will be better when weaned but looking into it it isn't always the case. I am weaning at the moment and am getting food vomit now as well as milk- thought the milk was bad enough!
