"Hiya, I live in chorley and have a 6 month old little refluxer. He's always had reflux but it went up to a whole other level after antibiotics. Doctors seem to be as clueless as us, no medications work (Gaviscon, ranitidine, omeprazole). Are…"

Saw paed reg last friday who advised to recommence domperidone with the zantac, so started using that night. After reading loads of posts on little refluxers I started to alternate the zantac and domperidone istead of giving them in the same feed. I realised by the end of the day that Megan hadn't been crying in pain with her reflux and she had pood twice when usually only once a day or alternate days.I didn't realise at 1st what i'd done differently for Megan to be comfortable and then it…See More

I feel so relieved to realise that this must be what my lo has been suffering with!
Poor darling wasn't gaining weight so started mixed feeding which made her symptoms worse, she's taking infacol, colief and gripewater, being tested for lactose intolerance and is a generally unhappy baby...sick all the time and crying incessantly.
I feel like i've been living at the Dr's for the last few weeks and life has been hell :(
I'll be back there again tommorrow to get something else prescribed for her...
Can i ask, does anyone else have similar experience? Wondering whether she actually needs all the concoctions or just medicine for reflux?
I feel so guilty not realising sooner :(

Think i will wait to see my own gp as you say this is a long road then i think building up a story with the same gp is better than a random dr who could know less than me in the end!
My 1st child was fine no problems with feeding what so ever but they have different fathers so probably the reason.
Part of the reason for testing for lactose intolerance was because i demanded it! My partner had a milk intolerance as a baby and i wanted to rule it out as a problem...hv said blood test is more accurate and we sent a poo sample so will mention this to gp. Very interesting to hear that milk intolerance is related to reflux. Another reason i thought she may have a MI is that her symptoms became much worse when i introduced formula. I did suggest changing milks to my gp who fobbed me off, thing is ive not seen the same dr once since she was born as its a big surgery and as i was desperate i just saw who was available. My friend has told me though that theres 1 dr who specialises with babies so i shall wait for that one. Theres so much to learn! :)

Back from the docs, Charlottes poo sample tested + for lactose intolerance and they need to do further tests! I can't believe the previous doc and hv who tried to fob me off like i was stupid!!! Anyway we've come away with some infant gaviscon to try in the mean time, 1st feeds on the go now so i'm in nervous anticipation hoping it works. We can't send off the sample until thursday cos she's been taking colief drops and they affect the result so were waiting again; but if she gets sorted out it will be worth the wait. I've got my fingers crossed x

Ha ha think iwas giving her too small of a dose because her weight is border line between 1 and 2 sachets, she had 2 sachets and she has been much happier and we've had a lot less sick :D good job really as all her bibs and nearly all my tea towels were in the wash!

Well what a difference a day makes! Charlotte was prescribed soya milk yesterday and what a contented little baby i have! Oh she's a dream...i was going to postpone her 8 week immunisations because she was already in so much distress i didn't want to put her through it. She had them this morning and did cry but not for long, had 1 dose of calpol in the afternoon and slept again. It has been really strange actually because my wash pile is going right down and i've actually had time to iron and do housework today :O We've only used 4 bibs today and no tea towels and stayed in the same outfit all day, shock horror...1st time in a while. The doc i saw on wednesday was great as one of his children suffered from reflux so knew all about it and was reassuring me that there are a few options out there for us if the gaviscon doesn't work. I'm just watching for constipation as a i've heard it's a side affect. Charlotte's poos were always liquid up until today when it was like playdough but this might be due to the change in milk...sorry for the poo discussion :D

1st October, almost a month since Charlotte started the nutramigen and how i wish i'd found it earlier! She is a little darling :D She still possets after every feed but i can easily cope with that as she is comfortable and happy. I also read the secrets of the baby whisperer to help her get into a routine and settle, what a God send this book is! We still use gaviscon in every feed and never had any reoccuring episodes of constipation; now is the challenge of when to wean. Im off to do my research x
