Hi! I am the proud mother of a toddler, (age 3 years) and more recently in November 2007 of twins at 3 weeks prem. Apart from being exceptionally hard work I am at the end of my tether managing my baby boy (Alex) reflux. When the twins came out of SCBU we were told "Alex has a bit of reflux". And thought well I'm sure it won't be too bad. What a nightmare and it just seems to be getting worse. To top it all Alex is gaining weight so therefore no-one really wants to know. On a waiting list jof 18 weeks just to get into the baby clinic at the hospital and if we are "lucky" will then go onto waiting list for the gastro specialist. Alex is on 2 sachets of gaviscon per feed and Ranitidene every 2nd feed. Neither of these seem to do anything! Today was a very bad day. 3 cot changes, 5 outfits for Alex and 2 for me! Coupled with a very wet carpet and about 10 muslins. Poor Alex screams before a feed, during a feed and for at least an hour after a feed. Very distresssing to watch and listen to.
As for my little girl twin - no problems. Text book feeder and sleeper - thank goodness - dont think I could cope with two! Alex is 14lbs now and is 15 weeks and I am wondering if I should start weaning him?? Would that help?? Have changed the milk to SMA hungry baby milk but he still is hungry. Tomorrow I am taking Alex to a Cranial Osteopath which I have heard may help. Basically I will now try anything! Has anyone tried this? How did you get on??
Please Please has anyone got any advice. Today felt like going out and not coming back. Dreading feeding times and feeling soooo guilty about not spending anytime with my toddler or twin girl and spend the whole time comforting Alex or mopping up puke, or washing clothes!
Any words of comfort or advice would be great. Thank you!
