I live in Wigmore but my dad lives in Newington so quite near you really! My little boy Luke has reflux and colic which may or may not be a result of the reflux!! We have been in and out of hospital with weight loss and then pain! Such a little word is pain and it doesnt really cover it does it? Have you found anything that helps your little boy? Luke is 9 weeks on Monday and is a happy little boy when he isn't in pain. Unfortunately no pain is rare! You feel so helpless don't you? He is addicted to gripe water, dentinox, infacol but hates the taste of gaviscon! I am giving up breast feeding as I seemed to be unable to satisfy him and he didn't put on weight. I really tried hard to make it work too! I have him on Aptamil easy digest now and I am hoping!!!!!!! What are you feeding your little boy on?

Hi Sara,

I know how you feel it is really hard isn't it? I find the pain and the screaming so distressing. We have been in Medway several times also. Nothing really gets sorted though does it? Have you considered seeing a Cranial Osteopath?? There is one in Rainham who has had some good results so we are giving him a go. Luke has had 2 sessions with him so far so I will let you know how he does. We have had a really good day today, hardly any pain just lots of sick!!!!

I wonder also about the milk/lactose intolerance issue. I might find myself trying soya milk shortly anything is worth a go isn't it? Try and keep your chin up its hard I know but it can't last forever!!!!!!!!!!! You don't read any of this in the books do you!!!! And that red book and those lines!!!!!!! I wonder what sort of person did that??

At the moment I am placing a rolled blanket along Luke's back so he stays on his left side, this aids digestion, hopefully!!! I have also raised his mattress so he isn't lying flat. I use a pillow on the changing mat,. treat him like he could break when he's feeding, cuddle him upright for at least half an hour after feeding (he usually repays me by up chucking most of what he had ingested!) and lay him down extremely gingerly! Have you had any successes in postioning?

My mum has reflux desease and not all the medication helps, in fact some of can make her feel worse. She finds her hot water bottle on her tummy helpful nut you cant really do that to a baby can you. We'll just all keep trying eh! Its nice to talk on here though isnt it?
Remember to take care of you too!

Hi Sara.
I note that you mention a Cranial Osteopath - if you don't mind me asking - what do they do and does it help? How did you find out about this? Did a GP/Paed suggest it?
Thanks
Emma

Hello Sara.. Sorry for delay also .

So you're pretty much up all night with the kids eh.. Fun..

Luke is now on Soya Milk since Yesterday.. So fingers crossed, this feels like the last resort for him.

Yeah he is my first baby, he wants comforting all the time too.. its so hard eh?.. We put him down and he crys after about 5/10 mins so we leave him, thinking he is just being naughty and then he screams in pain and then we feel so bad for leaving him.. We're hoping to see the light soon too!! lol

We found that gaviscon in with his bottles doesn't make any difference even tho it hides the taste and he will take it without any problems.. oppose to making it into a paste and giving it to him on a spoon.. So now we put it in a empty bottle mix it up etc and add a tiny bit of gripe water to hide the taste and he drinks it so well.. We was very shocked and it seams to have more of an effect too so thats good!

We bought Luke a supreme baby sleep positioner (with heart beat).. That seams to help a bit.

He doesn't really choke much.. He gulps all the time if he hasn't had his gaviscon though, we tend to give him gaviscon then a bottle before bed & in the night we put a dose of dentinox in his bottle that seams to work aswell.. Also.. We got Dr browns anti colic bottles that helps so much with his gulping.

I hope it went well at the hospital with Nathan.. Once again.. Sorry i didn't reply sooner just been busy.. Like yourself! :)

Take care
Julie x
