Ruby's mum has not received any gifts yet
Went to see Paediatrician last monday. Ruby has put on weight so he was quite happy with her progress. We expressed our concern about the amount of times she is sick in one day and the volume of fluid she is bringing up. He believes that Ruby has a small stomach and slow motility, that she should grow out of. However, he was very understanding of our concerns and suggested a course of anti-biotics is available but expressed his own concerns in their effectiveness. His…

Ruby is now 4 months old. She is our second child. Ruby was born by elective c-section in September as I had a traumatic birth with our first daughter – now 3 years. We knew within the 1st week that Ruby was not feeding properly and cried in pain constantly when awake. I decided to stop breast feeding her so that we could monitor how much…

Why is it the same story over and over again about health professionals with no clue about reflux, they have no idea how damaging their words can be, my confidence took a big knock after not being believed for weeks. I am glad Ruby's pain has stopped, I know what a relief that is, however the vomitting will probably continue, which I learned to live with as long as the pain was gone. Anna is now 5 and a half months and started food two weeks ago (against health profs advice) however what do they know. I have taken it easy and she has improved greatly and is not vomitting half as much, she is still on domperidone and losec and gaviscon if she requires it. Some folks did have trouble weaning and I was dreading it, however so far so good. Anna is such a happy wee girl now its hard to believe what she was like before which makes me angry that she suffered so long. The drugs do take 4 weeks to work and may need increased as Ruby gains weight. I was on a dairy free diet however Anna now has a little formula and is okay with it so I can rule out dairy intolerance, and I can now eat chocolate again. I know it seems a long way off but it does get better, I only hope it continues, I dread a flare up. Hang in there and fight your corner and don't let it rest till you are happy. Take care.
