Hi Katie,
hanks for the message. It was really kind of you. Emily has had a lovely day and I have really chilled about the milk. I think that I am just focusing on the fact that Emily likes solids.
Emily is nearly 6 months old. She was born on New Year's Eve. When was your son born?

Thanks Katie
I did try a bit of rusk mixed in with her milk but she completely threw thst up and all the milk I'd given her so I'm a bit reluctant. I may try baby rice next though. I will let you know how I get on.
I too struggled getting help. The HV would sit on my floor for an hour weekly staring at us and offering no advise. When I asked where we go from here when Holly had repeatedly not put on weight her answer was "Well this one's got me". I even took Holly to A&E as she was fractious and refusing feeds, she was admitted overnight and then sent home the next day as she hadn't vomitted for 8 hours. It was only fibally when she started losing weight and I'd taken her down the clinic another HV got the ball rolling and the next week we had an appointment at the hospital. Had I been a mother who didnlt fight for something to be done I'm not sure what would have happened but one thing I am sure we wouldn't ever celebrate her 1st birthday.
Thanks for the support, this website has given me fresh hope and it's so nice to know you're not alone.
Many thanks
Tina

Hi
Sorry to hear about your son's feeding today. Fraya has only eaten 12 ounces today and hardly ate any of her solids and when she did eat her solids quite well with one feed she was sick all of it at the end!
It's naff about your work wanting you to go back full time - that's not acceptable for most mothers, let alone one with a child that suffers from reflux! I'm lucky that I am not planning to return to work for a while. My mother doesn't live near me and so it would mean that Fraya would have to go into a nursery which concerns me that they might not bother to feed her with the patience and persistence that is needed!
At least this web site lets you let off some steam!

Hi
Thanks for the compliment about Fraya! You should put more pics up of your son! I would like Fraya to see a Dietician but the Paed said it was pointless but the HV is willing to make a referral so I might just ask for one anyway. Can't do any harm I'm sure! Do you know when you are going?

Hi. Sorry that you are having a bad day. Did it improve at all? Today has been horrendous. Fraya has vomited her milk 3 times and has hardly eaten anything (solids or milk). She has now gone to bed and has had 16 ounces but this has been a real struggle and it has meant that she has missed a solid meal. I feel so tired :(

Hi Katie
I've read your concerns about Harrison not drinking enough milk but doing OK with his solids. Just thought some tips that our dietician suggested might help with him getting the goodness of his milk without having to drink it! Alexandra went through a similar phase, she would only drink 2 bottles a day and at that point she was doing reasonably well with her solids. The dietician said we could mix a couple of scoops of her Neocate powder into her solids as long as we're giving her some fluids afterwards- Alex enjoys water and fruit juice. So she was still getting the nutrients from her formula and that helped her with her weight gain. Thought it'd be worth mentioning to you.
(Unfortunately at the moment she's off both her solids and her bottle :-(, so i can't put that into ptractice myself!)
Hope this helps
Helena X

Hi. Fraser is cute. Put more pics up! :) I have just realised that he was born on the date that Fraya was due (Fraya was 10 days early). Anyway, my eyes feel sore from crying today - it has been a bit too much! :( We were meant to go out to my in laws today for lunch but cancelled at the last minute as things were going so badly. I feel like a prisoner. Thank god for this site! Will Fraser eat if you fed him whilst he was asleep at night? I am hoping that Fraya will have another 4/5 ounces when we do this at 11pm (or rather when my husband does it as I am too tired!)

hi, yes harrison is in with us but we only have a 1 bed so for now theres no other option..i think its hard because he was fine from 5 weeks old he would sleep 7/8 hours solid and now he goes max 5 thats for a feed he will will prob wake up 3 times in that period...it seem to be later in the night he wakes up..my routine is...6-30 bath, wind down...then from 6.30 we go in to the bed room and i put his mobile on and his light show thingy lol...i leave him and after about 20 mins he will start to moan so i give him his dummy (at this point i say right im not taking him out) i will sit next to him and hold his dummy or put it back when it falls out but usually he just gets worse and about 30 mins later i give in and settle him in my arms this can take another 30 mins then i still try to put him down drousy and just sit with him...so finally he is asleep..then my partner gives him a feed at about 11/12 where he is uaually as good as gold (of course) then from 1.30 he will wake constantly about 5/6 times until 5ish when i decided i should try a feed or if my parners is on early shift or night i will bring harrison into bed with me or the sofa and he will doze and play with his teddy until 6 then we r up for the day im am living on red bull and now in the day he is sooooo grump i cant do anything i know he is going through the clingy stage but doubled with the nights its so hard...i know he can settle himself as he has been doing it abit more recently but i just dont know why he wakes up.....anyway hopefuly the weaning will help, but its not going to great now he is just so tired all day from the broken sleep that when i make his food he decides he want to sleep or is really grump...so for the looong message..x
