Hi,
I am Mum to 18 week old Abigail who has had reflux since 6 weeks old. After several weeks losing weight we were referred to the Children's Unit at our local hospital. It was then that she was diagnosed with silent reflux and given Gaviscon and Ranitidine. This improved things for a few days but then she returned to refusing the bottle and losing weight. So back in the hospital, this time for 7 nights, and this time her feeds were topped up by an NG tube to ensure her weight went up. Now 18 weeks old, the feeding still hasn't improved, she will still only take 2 ounces max and then we have to put the rest of the feed down the NG tube. She was tolerating this fine until last week, when she has suddenly started to be sick after each feed. So now we are back to square one where she is losing weight due to not taking the volumes she should be.
We have a follow up meeting at the hospital this week so I am anxious to see what they will say this time.
It has been really tough, especially as I also have a 3 year old to look after too.
I was so pleased to find this website and realise it is not just us going through this. Sometimes it just feels like there is no light at the end of the tunnel.
