Your story sounds very similar to mine. My daughter is only 7 months, but like yours, got a cold in January which led to a permanent chest rattling and wheezing ever since. She has had tw colds since and has been very poorly with them, to the point of nearly taking her to A&E cause she can't eaat, sleep breathe properly - instead she has been given antibiotics which do help her recovery but not the wheezing.
I saw a paeditrician last week through NHS referral but he said she was a happy wheezer which could be reflux related but not to worry as she is healthy in every other aspect. I wasn't happy so took her to her reflux specialist this week to get a second opinion. He has carried out some blood and mucus tests and referred her to a chest specialist.
I will call the secretary today to see if the tests have come up with anything. If not then we will see the chest specialist next week probably.
It is very frustrating and I know just how you feel as apart from this week I have spent 3 months battling to get anyone to believe that this is not normal. Anyway, I feel like we are at least on the right track now and we can get to the bottom of the problem.
My advice would be to persist - as a mother you know when something is not right. I am angry that we are having to go private and pay for tests which should have been done at the NHS hospital last week but f that is what it takes then so be it.
Let me know how you get on.
Take care
