"Hi It is rubbish that they can't do any more for him. They must treat the silent reflux or it can lead to other problems like ulcers. I don't know where you live but ask your GP for a referral to see a paediatric gastroenterologist - a…"

Fiona H replied to Kerrie Fitzsimons's discussion 8 months with Silent Reflux & Getting Worse Again - Desperate Please Help is it Reflux or Wind?
"Hi My daughter had silent reflux and is now 14 months old and we are weaning her off all meds - but I know how terrible silent reflux is and how desperate it makes you feel. The only way to really know if she has silent reflux is to get a pH test…"

Fiona H replied to Marnie Banks's discussion Anyone changed from Ranitidine to Omeprazole with success???
"Hi My daughter was initially put on ranitidene and domperidone. Whilst they did stop some of the screaming it wasn't until she was put on lansoprazole (similar to ompeprazole, but she couldn't tolerate omeprazole - it made her scream even…"

"Hi My daughter had the barium swallow test and pH index test, but not the endoscopy. The barium swallow is very quick and will just involve your daughter drinking some thick white (but flavoured) liquid drink and whilst she is drinking it she will…"

"Hi My daughter had a pH test when she was about 16 weeks old and she didn't have a GA. They just inserted the tube up her nose and down her throat without the need for any anaesthetic or sedative. She didn't find it very pleasant and did…"

Fiona H replied to Tabs's discussion Hi... another newbie here! (Long intro I'm afraid!)
"Hi The max dose is 4mg per kilo of weight (which then has to be converted into mls). My daughter is only 7.7kg and is on 1.9ml three times per day....so don't think that 1.9mls can be the max dosage for a 9kg baby. But I let the consultant…"

Fiona H replied to Sherilyn's discussion Hello From A Newbie :0)
"Hi Domperidone is the anti sickness drug which is meant to get the milk/food out of the stomach quicker in the hope that it won't be brought back up. Ranitidine is for pain and reduces the amount of stomach acid (if stomach acid is also being…"

"Rose used to cry when she saw the bottle too. She has stopped doing this over the past few days - I am not sure what has changed in that she is now OKish with the bottle. She only ever takes 2 - 3.5oz per feed and I just live with it but she does…"

Hi Fiona,
Im quite new to this site and am trying to speak to other mums who have babies with 'silent reflux'.My 6 week old daughter was diagnosed with this 3 weeks ago and is currently on gaviscon and ranitidine.
we were given domperidone and omperazole to try last week but it seemed to make her worse although we did only try it for 1 day.
back on the gav and ranit and we have the odd good day.
what has been your experience as far as meds go?
my daughter doesnt suffer from sickness tho just unexplained hours upon hours of crying, stomach cramps and wind...she squeaks all the time and makes snoring/rattling noises all the time!
she is currently on aptamil 1 and feeeding has been easier.I tried breastfeeding for 4 weeks but it was so stressful as she would constantly get distressed and pull off.
Ive read that lots of mums changed their formulas to hypo allergenic ones and im wondering if I need to do that? what symptoms would I be seeing if the milk was upsetting her?
sorry for all the questions just hoping to speak with others who are going thru the same thing!
