Food allergies

Hi Just wanted to know if many of you have come across food allergies or intolerances with thier little ones, Toby seems to be allergic to something and I think I have heard that babies with reflux are more likely to have intolernances, also those of you with older children do your meds change as your baby gets older, just seems this week that Toby is not as settled as he was a night, and is being sick more. Thanks

Hi

Hi I have 3 children, aged 5, 2 and 6 months and my youngest has reflux, it has been a very hard 6 months! the vomiting, washing and crying has been constant, we have tried the pre thickend milks and gaviscon with little effect, he is now under the consultant and on ranitidine which has helped wonders with the crying. we are weaning at the momment, which is a bit hit and miss. I would love to hear from other mums in the area.

Hi Emma Im no where near your hometown but just wanted to say that its nice to now that mum's 3rd time round find dealing with a baby with reflux sometimes difficult although its not the babies fault. My son is now 12 wks old and on the gaviscon and currently waiting for hos app. I have been wondering how it will be once we start weaning, as the HV kept saying once he can sit up and has started weaning you should see a difference. Any tips you come across post them so we can all try them ! Gail

Hi Emma,

Thanks for your message - I really feel for you as it must be a nightmare with 3 kids. Both my boys had it and it can be a struggle with 2 kids nevermind 3.

I haven't been in the area long - just 2 months. I have never found local support i'm afraid - neither here or where i was before. It would be good to know someone else going through the same problems though - especially someone local.

Does your littlun sleep? Both my boys struggle to sleep and we haven't had much sleep for over 3 and a half years. The lack of sleep and the screaming have been the hardest - seeing them suffer is awful.

Hope to hear from you,
Suzanne

Hiya, sorry to hear your littlun has had reactions - what kind of reaction has he had? Was it anaphalyactic (can't spell that!)? Our son developed colitis from his dairy allergy and was in terrible pain - was awful seeing him so distressed. It took about a week or so once i was dairy free to notice a difference.

we were also told to wean him soya free as there is often a cross over with dairy allergy - not sure if that helps or not?

If he has to go dairy free then you could ask your GP for a referral to a dietician as this helped me loads - we see a nice lady at Frimley Park. If you can't get a referral and want any info then just shout - i don't mind. Ben has been dairy free for a year now but i'm praying he'll become tolerant soon as feeding him is a nightmare and he doesn't like many foods. I worry about him becoming calcium deficient as he doesn't take much milk either.

Take care and feel free to ask if you want more info,
Suzanne

hi emma
I hear we have some mutual friends! My friend Angela said she got talking to you at a playgroup dinner and realised she knew both of us! small world!! As we are both so local I was wondering if you fancy meeting up for a coffee? my email is rattryde@sky.com. I think Angela was going to give you my email address - but feel free to ask her for my number too if you want it.

Would be really nice to chat to someone who knows what the hours of crying adn sleepless nights ares like!
