Hi Emma

We too have a daughter with silent reflux and cow's milk protein allergy, so I can totally relate to what you have and still are going through.
You might have already tried everything but, what we found it really helped our baby with her sleep was using a cot wedge on her mattress as well as bed blocks to raise the head of the cot. This way she's lying at about 45 degrees, making it more difficult for the stomach content to reflux.
Still there are nights when she's a bit restless but we have more good than bad nights making it possible for us to get some much needed rest.
Hope you find this helpful and things improve quickly.
Keep us posted on your gorgeous girl's progress.
Take care

Hi Emma, I saw your post but for some reason (probably dead obvious but I'm tired!) I cannot reply to it. If your daughter is not sleeping through the night, I would suggest she needs strtonger meds. She is only on very weak ones right now. I would ask your GP or gastro paed to drop the ranitidine and ask for omeprazole or losec. These are proton pump inhibitors and actually stop the stomach from producing the acid. Zantac (ranitidine) only neutralises the acid and is much weaker. How is her weight gain? As for when this is going to stop, it's a guessing game. 90% of babies stop by the age of 1. That is not to say all do, a lot stop well before this. 10% still have symptoms well after and will never grow out of it (some do though). We have been suffering vomiting reflux terribly since 6 weeks old (he's now 5 1/2 months). Since his pyloric stenosis op. They aren't sure if Callum will grow out of it as he brings up solids too. He is not responding to the strongest meds. Is your daughter better or worse at solid feed times? Sometimes solids can make things worse. Also, I would also suggest to your paed or GP that over 60% of milk intollerent babies are also soy intollerent. Maybe she would benefit from a complete dairy, soy and wheat elimination diet, this can help as you can gradually reintroduce these foods back in and look for a deterioration in symptoms. This would pinpoint another allergy if there is one. The only downside is all she would be able to eat is baby rice, pear, a few other 'boring' solids and she would benefit from trying Neocate milk, a complete amino acid based milk which is milk protein and soy free. Keep us updated and feel free to ask anything whatsoever, I'm forever babbling on!

Hi Emma, Can't believe your doc hasn't referred you to a paed! I would get an appointment with him and demand it! She definitely needs to be under the care of a paediatric gastroenterologist. If he won't refer you, I would pitch up at A+E. We have done this before a few times. I really feel for you. I can't believe you're having to sleep in separate rooms! It must be awful. We are lucky as Callum sleeps through. You should tell your GP just how hard things are getting. My husband is in the RAF and they have put him on half days for the time being to help. Hope everything goes ok,
