Hi! Thanks for your message, i hope i can help a bit, but please remember that i'm only talking out of experience and I'm not a doctor..:-) my son is now 1 year old and still on nutramigen. His silent reflux was treated with baby zantac( officially called ranitidine). it nutralises the acid which push up into the throat. The acid can actually burn and inflame the throat(which makes them scream like hell!!), so after using the ranitidine for about 2 weeks, which is how long the sores in his throat took to heal, there was a HUGE improvement in him( but it causes constipation, which, as you probably know, is another big problem). He was on it when needed until he was about 8 months old. i learnt through the way he screamed and his body language when it was the reflux or bowel pain which was troubling him.. There is a hard time ahead for you, and i sympathise. now that we're at the weaning stage, it's also hard, because we have to use trial and error. you'll have to introduce protein very slowly into the diet to teach the bowel to deal with it.. i still get it wrong - went to the ped the other day and after a tummy xray, it turned out he had a compacted bowel(constipation). At the same time, i thought he had diarrhea, but it was overflow, moving past the constipation... beautiful discussion, i know... So, all you can do is your best. if the nutramigen is not showing a proper improvement, then it can't be allergy(but remember, it takes weeks for her bowel to get rid of the nonsense that has built up along its walls from the protein, which was and is causing her pain), so give the nutramigen more time... and get your hands on ranitidine(unless the other meds she is on is similar - then give those meds more time)!!! It may also be a good idea to give some infacol still, which, even now, I have to use from time to time..
Good luck, my dear! What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. I hope you have a partner/husband/friend/family member who's helping you through this trying time.
xxx tasche
