LittleRefluxers

hiya, not even sure if i should be in this group but really just wanted to ask a question. my daughter has been on infant gaviscon since she was 4 weeks old. But i wanted to know how people give their kids the two sachets for when they are over 10lb cos on the box it says in no less than 225ml but my daughter is only on 5 fl oz so does this mean i should just make up 8 fl oz every time even though she will only drink about four and a half of them? how do other people do this? surely it's just a waste of milk???

thanks for your time

Hi Lynsey

I'm having the same issue, did you manage to find an answer.....I'm adding 1 dose to 5oz at the moment but my baby is over 10lb?

Thanks

Nikki
hiya Nikki,

No haven't really found an answer. I'm only putting one sachet in 5oz again because luckily her reflux seemed to settle again. think it was just a bad couple of weeks.
When it was bad and she really showed discomfort i just put two sachets in the 5oz. she seemed ok with it. I spoke to another woman who did this too.

Sorry i haven't been much help

Lynsey
Hi Lynsey,

No that's a great help, glad to hear it's working for you to..... I will see how he goes and if if get's any worse I will increase the dose.

Take care

Nikki
Hi Lynsey,

Just a quick one, how many doses are you giving your little girl a day?

Thanks again

Nikki
Hi I asked the paed about this - you should only use the 2 sachets when you are getting to above 5oz ish and then make up 8oz and bin the rest
When my daughter had the sachets, i was told not to be overly concerned about the whole weight issue, I would always make up 6oz bottles and add two sachets (hospital consultant okeyed it).
How ever i found that the problem with the sachets was, if they do not finish a bottle it makes no difference how much gaviscon is in there you never know how much they are having. This is where i found the real problem.
I was then told to mix it with water and give it her direct from syring. HOW MAD have you ever tryed to get 15ml of thin liquid down a reluxing baby, and expecting them not to bring the lot back up, (daft plan).
When i told my consultant that i couldnt get the Gaviscon in, to do any good, she prescribed Gaviscon advance, in the bottles the same as we adults use. !00% easyer to use, 2.5ml before each feed. Transformed my little one.
Can you get this for little ones - from what age????
