Hi, my name is Nicola and my son has reflux, and a milk protein allergy/intolerance, he's now 13 months old and has been on gaviscon, domperidone, and omeperzole since he was 8 months old, thanks to a really good registrar at Gloucester Royal, and now he's under the consultant Dr Peek, who has been really good, he's got slightly better over the past year, but he's no where near grown out of it, as he still needs all 3 meds, and every time we try and reduce them we get in probs, of reflux, vomiting, and food refusal, it usually takes us about 3 weeks to get the whole eating food again into the swing, of things,
I would love to hear from anyone who has also suffered with reflux for this length of time, as all H/V GP's told us he would really outgrow this by 1, starting to not believe them now,!!!!
His milk allergy is separate but it does make everything more complicated, as it affects his digestion quite badly, therefore the poor little mite has spent most of his life with stomach ache, remarkably he's a happy little chap, but he does require a lot of attention.
luckily for me he's not my first, I have older ones who are really useful and helpful at meeting his needs, while I’m cooking tea, or going to the loo!!

Hi, my names Laura and I'm from Wolverhampton.My son max is 9 weeks old and yesterday HV & GP says he poss has reflux will need confirming by hospital appt next week though, I know he has it though as he has ALL the symptons.Am so glad this site is here as its been very very stressful. xxx

Hi, Laura, sounds like you've got a good diagnosis quickly I know 9 weeks sounds like a long time but it took nearly 3 months and my little one being admitted with dehydration and a gastric bug to be diagnosed.
Is your babe on any medication yet?
My son is now 2yrs 4 months and still suffering, so if you want any hints or tips just shout...

Hi, I'm Leila and my son Luis 15 months old one of a twin is still suffering from reflux and milk protein allergy. He was put on gaviscon from 12 week and he was much better until he was weaned and then his reflux and eczema came back with a vengeance. He was finally diagnosed with milk allergy at 9 months and put on Neocate and Domperidone and Ranitidine. This improved his reflux for a month or two but then he got bad again. He is now on Omeprazole and Domperidone and is still suffering and is up at night a few times. I am so worried about his reflux causing long term damage possibly to his lungs as it causes him to cough at nights and other complications. I was hoping he would have grown out of it by now but he hasn't and he doesn't show any signs of getting better. I am thinking of trying him on a gluten free diet as i have recently read a link between gluten sensitivity and reflux in children who don't grow out their reflux. I wish everyone babies a speedy growing out of reflux as it is a real curse!
