LittleRefluxers

Hi,

My grandson Jake is now 10 months old and seems to have silent reflux since birth, but has gone on undiagnosed.

He is still breast fed and will now not try any solids( he started off quite well but was sick after most foods) now you can't get anything that resembles food unless its a bread stick near his mouth,he gags and then is sick.

He doesn't sleep at night and wakes screaming most nights.

Are any of your babies past this stage and if you have any advice, it would be grateful.

Do you meet up for coffee or anything like that as my daughter would be very grateful of some mum to mum support.

thanks,

Mandy

Hi Mandy

Sorry to hear that your grandson is not well. Samuel is 13 months old and has had silent reflux since birth. He however has a cows' milk protein allergy which is the original cause for his reflux and is therefore on Nutramigen AA, a hypoallergenic formula. Is your grandson seen by a paediatrician? If not, I would say that your daughter needs to be reffered. If she lives in Cheltenham, Dr Hamilton Ayres at the hospital is brilliant. Nutramigen AA changed our lives, Samuel was much happier after moving onto this formula. Has your daughter cut dairy out of her diet? Most babies with reflux have an allergy so might be worth trying that if she hasn't already done so but she needs to be aware that there are a lot of hidden dairy in food, in particular preservatives and additives. If she needs anyone to talk to, message me and I'll give you my email address. I know how tough it is but it does get better with the right diet and medication and of course support.
