LittleRefluxers

Hi, we're from Paisley (just outside Glasgow!) and wondered if anyone anywhere in Scotland has had any joy from the NHS? We've had a total horror story (wrong dosages, GP lying to us, ignoring us) and want to find out how other people have got on. I'd especially like to know if anyone has managed to get liquid omeprazole prescibed? I'm told it doesn't exist, which is obviously rubbish looking elsewhere on this site. Can anyone help? Also does anyone know of any real-life groups we can physically go to when we're at our wits end in the area?

Hi there, I have just found this Glasgow group and wondering if it is still going? Annabel
Hi Annabel, Hi Susie! I was beginning to think Matthew was th only baby in Scotland with reflux!
I know - tell me about it. I found this site way too late and - luckily - I think we're through the worst of it now. Matthew will be 1 in a couple of weeks and is doing MUCH better these days. How is your wee one doing, and how old now?
Hear hear!
Hi everyone, glad to hear you are all still in touch. I live in a small village called Blanefield, north of Glasgow and this site was my life line a few months ago when we had our worst experience to date with Robbie's reflux. Does anyone live nearby??? He turned one last week and seems alot better (touch wood) however has just re-started the night waking and I find it soshard not to jump to the reflux conclusion, despite knowing he has a bad cold (has had a cold since november!!) and is also teething. So what is waking him? Susie I am interested to know what you mean by your wee one having flare ups and how you get them under control? I am wondering if R is now having flare ups, or whether he needs Omeprozole increased now he is bigger.(currently 2 x10mg a day) Why is reflux a constant struggle with EVERYONE!!! They all think we are mad im sure!!
Hi Annabel,

We live in Paisley, west of Glasgow (just past Glasgow Airport and Braehead on the motorway) - not sure how far that is from where you are? I'm back at work but I would be up for a meet-up somewhere on a Saturday afternoon, maybe? Matthew will be one on Thursday so he's about Robbie's age.

I have heard that babies with reflux can get colds more frequently or for longer. We're really lucky that Matthew has slept really well since the medication started working. He's difficult during the day sometimes but at least he sleeps, although when teeting he did wake up sometimes for a cry.

I agree - they think we are mad, but that's what this site is for!!!

Love,

Marion x
Hi Marion, Happy Birthday Matthew!!! Hope you have a great day, I found Robbies birthday so significant (more so than my first sons, which was of course no less important!) Yes I would be up for meeting up. I have a friend who lives in Paisley near the RAH, I find it tricky to get to but that is cos im not a brave driver. You are prob about half hour away from us. Ill get a map out or we could meet somewhere in town, or a soft play or something. Whatever suits you best. Shall we say to aim for a meet in March? Thanks for getting in touch, this site is indeed priceless! love Annabel x
Habbie Birthday Robbie as well :)

My mum's not far from the RAH either, but why don't we try for an afternoon at the Big Adventure instead cos that'll be easier for you to find by car, I would think. (I'd come to you but we gave the company car back when I changed jobs). March sounds like a plan. I'll send you a message with my email address so we can sort something out.
Hi there - another person from Glasgow just joined so you won't feel so alone!! Some days I wonder if I have the energy to make it out the house but meeting and having a chat with some Mum's with older babies would be a great help - if you are meeting sometime could I crash the party - speaking to someone who doesn't think you are a nutter would help!! I'm near Bellahouston Park so close to Silverburn, Braehaed and also go to the Big Adventure sometimes. Hope you don't think I'm being cheeking jumping in on your e:mails.

Kerrie
