Hi there, not sure how long he has been on the meds but they can take a couple of weeks to work, so hang in there. You may also need to increase the dose with his weight gain so bare this in mind. My son didn't have a dairy intolerance but my 12 week old daughter has so the meds were not that effective until I cut dairy out of my diet a couple of weeks later, so if you don't see an improvement on the meds it might be worth looking into that as well as it seems a lot of kids with reflux also have an intolerance. My daughter and son both had to be carried the whole time and would only sleep on me until we got the reflux under control. My daughter is only now been in her cot for the last week and she is slowly settling into it, although still wakes at 4am with pain and deoesn't really settle but this is a huge improvement to before. It is really tough bbut hang in there cause it does get better, my son was under control by 6 months (we were slow to get him diagnosed) and off all the meds by a year, but some kids outgrow it much earlier. I hope it improves quickly for you.
Hi Michelle,

Hi Nikki,

Unfor'tely with silent reflux u have some good days and some very bad : (

Do u have family/friends who could take harrison 4 a walk or drive? U could then spend some time with ur 5 yr old.

My son would also cry all day and nite, and understand its really hard.

My only other advice 2 u would be u can only take each day as it comes, silent reflux takes time to go (my son is coming up2 9 months and still has it).

He maybe off his milk bcos hes in discomfort bcos of the acid?? Have u tried feeding him whilst walking, used to work for me as the distraction of things around him took his mind off the reflux.

I also found letting my baby lie on my chest and or giving him a warm and relaxiong massage helped him relax for a while. I used to give him a massage every morning for about 20 mins in a warm room and he would fall asleep, then i would go to sleep and rest as much as i could while he slept. Don't worry about what ur house looks like, thats not important!

I found when my baby really cried alot i would swaldle him and keep him snug, that would really calm him down and he would fall asleep in his moses basket

What r u health vistors like? I know mine where rubbish!

All the best with seeing the ped'tion at Holly House.

Chin up Nikki, he will grow out of it, it just takes time....unfor'tely there is not miricle cure, the meds our babys are on only make it comfortable for them, it does not take the 'illness' away.

P.S. Nikki,

As for eatting my husband used to make me sandwiches/finger foods etc nite b4 he went to walk, that way i didn't have to worry about food and could eat while holdi ng my baby! As for shower i would put him in a bouncer and have him in the bathroom with me, my son loved it and i think it relaxed him (hot steama nd the sound of water)
Hi Nikki

Hope things have been better today. Like the others say it is all about good days and bad days but i know it is so hard. We are struggling big time with sleep at the moment. She wakes all through the night in such discomfort. I can only put it down to the reflux and have tried everything and nothing seems to work so have resigned myself to the fact that we are just going to have to ride it out :(. I take a shower with her in bouncy chair too and she seems to like it. Also, just find that have her in the baby carrier facing outwards is good as gives me some free hands so that I can play with my son.

Would love to know where you get losec liquid from as my doctor told me it wasn't available? I had a feeling it was because it was more expensive. Would love to know about this as would make life easier!

Hang in there it will get better.
hello guys,
well happy new year!! Harrison wasn't that bad new years eve as we braved a family party, we have found a new wrap blanket for him, its the miricle blanket from mothercare it was £14.99 and i saw it and bought it!! Harrison loves it bless him.....he had it on all evening at the party. Slept in it, and fed in it.

Nicki we have appt at holly house with the Dr, Tues at 1.30. I spoke to her on the ph yesterday and she was soooo lovely and understanding. Pls god she gonna help us.

Michelle, i just told my g.p that it was imposible to try and give my 7 wk old son a melted down tablet through a syringe ect......
So i told him i know the med comes in a liquid form and yes it cost £175 to order in and make, so the pharmacy said, but hey you should be able to get it.
....just demand it, i did!!!! :)
Try that blanket for sleep, Harrison slept v well in his last night.!!!

Hi, not sure if the jabs have already taken place, I can't see when this was posted. I hate to say it but Lauren was awful with the first set of drugs, but was OK with the second set last week. I don't think you can tell how they will react so best to give calpol as advised and fingers crossed it will be OK. Lauren didn't feed for 12 hours after them and slept for most of that time. I hope it goes OK (went OK if it has already happened!).

PS - never tried it but supposed to help to feed them whilst having injection as they find it less traumatic?
