Why do imms seem to upset LO's with reflux? finally got him settled for now on gaviscon and ranitidine and had a terrible reflux episode tonight when i tried to put him to bed!! SO frustrating!

I understand ranitidine doesn't always work but for logan it's been good for the past week atleast. Taken him for his imms today and when the nurses said did he have a bad reaction last time i felt awful going into how we discovered he had reflux after he ended up in hospital because he'd developed bronchilitis and was choking on his reflux! Sounds silly but i was in bits today so worried about him going for his injections, seems to upset him more than it did ashton my two year old and just new it would cause problems. He was ok for a few hours then got grouchy as usual before bedtime and a bit warm so gave him some calpol which they always recommend but that seemed to trigger his reflux really bad and he started gulping air and arching back. Every time tried to settle him as soon as he swallowed he'd start crying again! It's awful as there's not even any pain relief you can give them?! Just wish there were more people that understood as my HV and GP still just think he'll grow out of it so don't really understand the stress it puts you under. Still feel terribly anxious when he's bad and feel like i can't cope.

Oh gosh its heartbreaking isnt it. Rhys is terrible with Calpol it really makes him choke even when we dribble it in with a syringe. I read on someone elses post that they blow on their babys face as this makes them swallow and even though I know its an awful thing to do we did it tonight so Rhys could have some pain relief. Sometime you have to be cruel to be kind, although I would definately only do this as a last resort.
I understand how you feel when your little guy is bad, its so hard when nothing will settle them and everyone dismisses how awful it can be. I was trying to explain this to the GP today and typically he behaved like a perfect baby, he just sat in my arms all smiley and giggling at the doctor.
I get really anxious when we are out in public if he needs a feed because it can literally take an hour to give him just a couple of ounces, although we were prescribed Ranitadine today so hopefully that will work as well for Rhys as is is for your gorgous little Logan.
Hi, I know how you feel and it really is such an awful time. The anxiety of it all can really take its toll. I hope you have some better days soon.
