Sorry I haven't been on for ages but :)
We were in hospital the beginning of April with missy due to having caught the rotovirus bug and being on a drip for 3 days. Well we were at the new hospital with her which we were refered to and had an appointment with for the end of the month. The gastro team took missy off the duocal & carobel then changed her milk to the nutramigen aa from neocate as they believed her tummy had become hyper sensitive to all the stuff we had been prescribed by the other paeds.
Well after we came out she started to drink milk going from struggling to take 3oz bottles to taking 7oz bottles within 2 weeks to say we were happy is an understatement then....
We had our actual appointment with the gasto team and the specailist dietitians and they cut her meds back even more so is she now only on the nutramigen, domperidone & omeprazole (sp). They were horrified by the little care she had received whilst under the other paeds. The one thing that did surprise us was when I mentioned she was on gaviscon they told us to take her off it immediately as they said it should never be given to gord babies and the paeds only give it to shut mothers up and make it look like they are doing something - how true this is I don't know but missy doesn't seem any worse coming off it.
They also addressed her lack of food intake as she refused to eat. They have agreed that she has intolerances which they are going to re-test for if she is still having problems in six months time. However they have said they think she has had a major adversion to food as she was in so much pain for so long where we weren't getting any help and being fobbed off that we missed the "window" for weaning.
Since this appointment 3 weeks ago Paige has turned one and last week ate her first meal homemade spaghetti bolognase followed by a fruit pot and she loved it. We are still struggling to get her to feed but she does like to slup foods which we are so happy about.
The reflux looks like it has calmed down alot since we have taken her off of everything and managing to control he eating alot more. She still has bad nights but not as many, she started to pull herself up and can now stand for a min or so holding on, she crawls like a child possesed and suddenly appears beside you (sneaky moo)
We have a dietian follow up later next month and the paeds have left it that if we need to speak to them we can or the dietian can make an appointment as and when.
So all I can add is there light at the end of the tunnel and nope it is not a bloody train
Neet :)
