Stressing about nursery managing Cians needs , anyone got any experience with nursery and LR !

Hi All
Cian is going into nursery in four weeks and I'm so stressed as Cian is only drinking 4 ounces of neocate a day , Im having to make custard , make few ounces up and also add it to his pureed foods . I have tried everything ( he was drinking 21 ounces before ph test) putting it in a beaker , dream feeding but nothing working ! He gets upset when he sees the bottle and starts fussing .
When he goes to nursery will they go to the same lengths I do to get the required amount into him?? I
So worried about the whole thing and sods law Dietican is away. I
Also worried about the medication side of things , what are your experiences with nurseries with you LR with diet , medication etc
Making myself Ill with all the worry !

she was just 9mths old when she started x

You can get an Osteocare liquid calcium too. Requirement for a toddler is 350mg a day, the way we've worked it out is Matthew gets about a third of his requirement from breastmilk, one 100ml portion of supplemented Oatly is 120mg and he gets 5ml of the supplement which is 125mg. The tiny bits of calcium he gets from other foods will be a bonus, though some bread contains quite a bit so it's worth watching out for.

Can you call someone at the dietician service and get them to calculate whether he needs a supplement if his milk intake is low? You should be able to work out what he is getting from however much formula you can get into him.

You can get the supplements on prescription but they are not prescription-only, you should be able to buy some over the counter if you feel you need to until you can get it prescribed (in my case dietician wrote to GP, it all took a little while...)

My nursery's been fab. They're fine with meds and milk and are extra attentive to Douglas. They always phone me to let m know if they think he's not feeling well and even phone to tell me if he's had a stringy poo which I find very reassuring! Just take time to talk it all through with staff. X
Thanks Girls , I will do.
I've left a message with the Dietican but I'll also work it out myself now I know the amount he should have ( thanks for that Jen)

Hi,

My son has been in nursery for past 2 months.  His reflux is not as complex as your little one and at the moment has not had it confirmed that has any intolerances.  I just wanted to let you know that i have found the staff very helpful - the menu offered things like chilli/ mexican chicken and i asked if all spicy food could be avoided which so far they have been happy to do. (though appreciate it is far more complex for you with his allergies) He has his ranitidine in the morning and evening with me so nursery only have to give him his lunchtime gaviscon - they do this with no problem - all medications have to be signed into the nursery manager who administers the medication at the appropriate time of day. My nursery provide all home cooked meals for lunch - the issue i had was that they did not provide dinner  but were happy to give owen baby jar food at allocated time- but as this tends to flare up owens reflux so i have to bring the evening meal that i have cooked and give it to owen before we leave to go home. My nursery will not allow me to leave my home cooked food  with them - something to do with its source /policy etc.  So def worth checking this out as all nurseries are different! Hope he settles well into nursery and that it all goes smoothly for you! x

Thanks Rebecca, I'll check but I may see if they will risk assess it if they can't meet his needs so I can take my own , I know at work we have scource policy too but when it comes to choice., diet needs we get round it and get relative or service user to sign it.

Thanks for your replies , dietician is going to check with consultant about prescribing neocate spoon , as she said he should be having 6oomg  of calcium daily and he'd getting less than half she worked out , so glad as she said one sachet will give him the requirement , so could give that to nursery to do xx

Awww I can't help with any of this as have had no experience with nursary, but big hugs to you.  Know what it's like to make yourself ill with worry.  Sending positive good nursary vibes your way xxx
