LittleRefluxers

Well what do you think, my daughter is nearly 7 month old now and has just been signed off from the peadiatrics even though she has lost weight.

To give you a brief history, she has not been feeding since 4 weeks old, got the usual colic excuse at first and then finally at 4 months after dropping from the 75th centile to the 25th she was referred to the peads, which diagnosed dairy intollerance?? and after ranitadine finally omeprazole.

I have never been able to get any other milk but sma down her, she has had 11 different milks in total and none of them she would take so she has been kept on sma.

My pead said her excema on her cheeks and wheezy breathing are a sure sign of dairy intollerance, these have both cleared up now but she is still on sma.

I gave her yogurts and her excema flared up bad but they say this cant be the dairy it must be the flavouring???? whats that all about is she or is she not dairy intollerant??

Anyway to cut a long story short they signed me off today saying she has reached all her goals turning over etc and i should stop worrying about her weight cause she looks fine, she is only 14 pound 4 and was 7 pound 12 at birth!!

I feel like no one gives a s**t about my daughter and i just have to cope with force feeding her milk, she still only takes between 2 and 3 oz and just put up with it.

What do you all think??

Hi Sian, reflux all gone then as well as wheezing & excema? Off all meds now? Just feeding issues left?
Think sometimes they can grow out of dairy intollerance so maybe that's whats happened with your Lo.
Maybe you can ask to be referred to dietician?
Have you tried giving milk in sippy cup or open cup. Sometimes when my Lo refuses feeds from bottle he will take from a doidy cup or will take finger food when refusing to be spoon fed.
Does she take food well? Is it just milk? Is she content after feeds or seeming hungry just refusing? If happy to eat solids mix milk into them like porridge etc. How is she with cheese?
Have you tried plain yoghurt & mix in pure fruit puree? That would rule out flavouring!
Would say congrats on getting signed off but not much good if you're still having problems!!!
I understand what a nightmare feeding (or lack of!) can be as also have issues with my Lo though inconsistant! Rarely takes 20oz (has taken 9oz some days with hardly any food) & never managed 3 meals in a day (only 1 today!).
He's now 9mths ,18lb last weighed, born 8lb half oz (50th to off chart & now chunky 25th wearing mainly 3-6mth clothes)
Good luck x
Thanks for your reply sarah, woops got things wrong, they told me they are happy with her progress so can go back to general clinic, i took this as they meant the h/v but i got an appointment through this morning so they meant not being seen every 4 weeks and going back to every 3 months (blonde ya see lol).
Your little one sounds just like cerys, she is in 3-6 months too although is getting to tall for them now.
I am going to try plain yogurts and see what they do, just hope she does not have another reaction!
She is still on 7.5ml omeprazole and gaviscon in her bottles (4 a day now) cant wait till i dont have to give it her at all!!
She wont take porridge or anything with milk in cause she is a little minx, im sure she does not like milk lol.
My days are always up and down, sometimes taking 4 x 5oz bottles and sometimes i only get 9oz down too, she is great with pureed food but they are pushing me to go onto lumpy and she does not like that much, what finger foods do you give your little one??
Thanks for the reply
Sian xx
