LittleRefluxers

hi all, please can anyone give me any info?

my lo has been diagnosed with quite severe reflux and has been on losec mups since weds.  We possibly saw some improvement today (just after I declared couldn't take anymore and might need to see GP for myself) as lo slept more and seems to be more relaxed.  She is still uncomfortable after feeds but not screaming.  She now tightens her stomach as though got abdo pain/wind and is quite flatulent.

I was very worried yesterday as she passed a very mucous like motion that had blood in it.  Rang hospital and they advised sending sample.  I'm not sure where this blood has come from as if it was caused by oesophagus bleeding would look like digested blood - coffeee granules/black and if it was a tear would be bright red (it wasn't).  Hospital nurse said may be omeprazole, anyone else had experience of this.  She seems to be passing normal motions again now. Hi Emma, don't know if it's the same but my toddler had this when he was a baby (the mucous alot and occasional spots of blood along with always farting and not alot of burping ) and it turned out to be a lactose intolerance problem (he also had a mild reflux problem) He went on Nutrmigen and Gaviscon and it worked wonders for him - does your little one have any dry flaky skin around eyebrows etc? My son did and as soon as switching milk and going dairy free his skin tone improved massively too. Wish my baby's bad reflux could be sorted so easily - still fighting that one!

Hope that helps? Good luck

Kerrie
Hi Kerrie, thanks for reply. Oh right, sounds very similar. My lo has been on nutramigen for 4 weeks now though but doesn't seem to be helping. Maybe she needs the nutramigen aa? not sure. She does get dry flaky skin around her eyebrows too (looks very dry but only place). We have tried gaviscon but didn't do much, she is now on omeprazole. She also coughs/sneezes which hasn't improved as yet. Thanks again Emx
Hi Emma
I just noticed your little one has the flaky eyebrows thing going on, mine does too. God this is bizarre, they seem to have the exact same symptoms. Just wanted to let you know that after day 5 on the Nutramigen aa my little ones eyebrows seem to be getting better. She actually slept 7 hours last night (longest every for Nicole), she then slept most of the day, but then as usual got upset around 3.30pm and didn't settle until around 9pm. I took her to see a Bowen Therapist today, so I'll let you know how that goes. I'm very confused. I thought my lo was still suffering with trapped wind, but she seemed to get rid of it tonight, and was still upset. Nicole also coughs and sneezes quite a lot. I'm told this does improve in time and then we'll all get our sanity back lolxx
Hi Lara, omg, isn't that odd! I'm going to ask for nutramigen aa tomorrow I think. Lo seemed bit better today, is still arching back a lot but screaming has greatly reduced. Now I can actually see her stomach is bothering her, not sure if the omeprazole is adding to stomach problems or it's because now she isn't in so much distress I can distinguish problems iykwim. Wow 7 hours! Pretty good going, Jasmine has managed 6 hours but generally it's 4 hours between feeds and 3 once winded and kept upright.Jasmine also gets very unsettled in afternoon/evening. Usually settles around 9pm - freaky! Good luck with the Bowen Therapistn Emx
Omg thinks ours are so similar. I have decided Nicole has colic symptoms. Nicole is normally very sleepy all day right up until that 3.30pm feed. She generally tends to stay awake, not happy but not screaming until around 7.30pm where she tends to then have 1 1/2 hours of screaming, classic colic symptoms. I do however think she does have reflux and milk allergy as the back arching (I was told is reflux), leg kicking and tummy cramps have gone - its just this period in the evening we're struggling with. I do think the aa has made a massive difference to her, as I say, still not happy, but knocking some symptoms off the list.
Who would be a mummy lol
xx
