LittleRefluxers

My son is 5 months old and has severe Reflux. We saw a Gastro Specialist today who prescribed one 20mg dissolvable OMEPRAZOLE tablet a day.

He is already on Gaviscon Infant and Ranitidine (1.5ml, three times a day)

Can we use both Omeprazole and Ranitidine together?? Or do we need to take him off the Ranitidine?

Hi hun - I am not 100% sure but my paed said that Rant is a milder version as it decreases the acid wheras omprazole - stops the acid at the source so I would say stop the ranitidine but I would ring the doc to check
Hi,
My little one was swicthed to omeprazole instead of rant when the rant wasn't enough
C
p.s. wouldn't have though you would need gav infant as well as normally they give you that then if not enough rant then onto omeprazole but sure your cons would know best
Hi my lo was on gaviscon ranitidine and domperidone as well, the paed then added Omeprazole. I queried whether we still needed the Ranitidine and he said yes as they worked in slightly different ways and I wasn't to stop the Ranitidine. Hope that helps.
