LittleRefluxers

Me again, ive been invited to go to Cadbury world this Saturday and id love to go, but the two hour journey there and the same back is more than likely to be hell. My LO screams in a car seat and also can scream in his push chair. When we're in the car I sit in the back and try and make him more comfortable, which is not safe on short journeys and will be even less on a long journey.
Has anyone got tips for travelling in a car with a refluxer? I've warned them already I'm probably not going to go, but just hoping there might be something I can do to go!

My LO is ok if I wait about an hr after a feed - preferably when he needs a nap. I give him a dummy too. He is fine in the seat at the time but unfortunately makes his reflux terrible next day so we avoid. Do you have any noisy distraction toy that LO likes? X
We would wait to go in the car so about an hour after a feed. Used a dummy, also had a mirror on the headrest so he used to look at himself which he loved x
Thanks, that's a good tip about waiting, but it's if he'll last another two hours after a feed, without a feed. I'd love my LO to have a dummy but he's never taken to it, he used to suck his thumb but now he doesn't :(

We've had some hellish car journeys with Matthew! Four hours in the car plus however long he'll have to sit in a buggy whilst you go round doesn't sound like a fun day out with a refluxer, which means I doubt it'll be much fun for you either. We declined lots of invitations when Matthew was smaller - Cadbury World will still be there in another few months when either he'll be better and happier to sit in seats for longer periods or you can leave him behind with Dad and have a day off!

We went on a holiday to the Isle of Wight which we'd booked before Matthew was born, imagining a lovely easy-to-lug-about 4m old like our first son. It was awful, he screamed throughout every car journey and had to be carried in a sling all day, and was still miserable. All the photos I look exhausted and close to tears... and I wish we'd cancelled it!

You're right Jenny and I know it! Every trip out of the house, no matter how short, is a nightmare so Saturday will be no different! Think I was clutching at straws! My oldest is going with my parents though so ill enjoy some me and baby time :)
Hi I agree sadly I wouldn't go :( it'll just be stressful. DD and DS2  have been terrible in the car both until about 4 months - screamed hysterically on EVERY journey however long or short. This time I found it so hard, I did avoid going places unless absolutely necessary. The school run twice a day was bad enough!! He also did tuis in the buggy, bouncer chair, swing, baby gym etc we literally could not put him down at all he even screamed on the changing mat - so wearing. My friend with a refluxer said to me it does improve and it did but it'a a nightmare at the time. The buggy and car seat are now a god send - only place he will sleep! We did change car seat to a Britax 1st class which rear faced as well and was far more upright which did help somewhat. He has been better again now forward facing. He would never entertain a dummy either until 3 months when we had to drive to Northumberland and it starts before we got 5 mins down the road  and I literally said to
My 9 year old who was sat next to him I'll pay you if you get him to suck that dummy and she did! God knows how (prob held her hand over his face lol TBH I didn't care I just knew I couldn't go all that way with the screaming. I often say in the back and tried to pacify he sucked my finger, all sorts I tried. Sorry no magic fix but it does improve x
