Not been on here for a long time...

Hi all,

I used to post on here about a year ago about my dd emma - she had silent reflux and we had terrible times with it. But by 15/16 months she finally grew out of it, and has been med free for about 6 months now.

BUT - i now think my 7 year old son has it. Is it possible for it to appear at this age?? he has (I think !) lots of reflux symptoms - persistant cough, loss of appetite, sore tummy and says it hurts on his windpipe (acid?). I am convinced he had it as a baby but as a first time mum ( and it wasn't as well known 7 years ago) I went along with the dr and he stopped milk at 12 months and slowly things got better.

Also I think Emma's reflux is returning (almost 22 months old)  - she too has loss of appetite, and she keeps on telling me her throat hurts despite 2 gp's telling me it's fine. She's sleeping for 12 hours at night and 3 hours in day, but still looks shattered and is continually 'comfort seeking', having her dummy and bear at all times as if somehting's wrong and she needs that comfort.

I've made a double appointment with the gp for monday - will he think I'm mad turning up with 2 kids who I think have reflux?? Obviously I've toughened up a lot with all the dealings I have with the paed fighting to get treatment for Emma, but what meds should they be on?? I suspect they're both too old to have Gaviscon, and Emma used to be on domperidone and Ranitidine, but they seem to be prescribing the Losec mups more round here, so should I try and get that?

Sorry for waffling, but I don't know who else to ask for advice!!!
