LittleRefluxers

well i havent posted for a couple of weeks, although when i did post nobody really had any advice re the hiatus hernia as i guess nobody here has a little one with one??

after a really bad 5 week flare ds 17 months seems to be responding to his new med! he had been on lansoprazole since 8 months which worked wonderfully compared to all the other drugs we tried, but suddenly he got really bad again :( took him to his gastro pead who is great and since he is over 1 now put him on nexium (esomeprazole) so must be similar to omeprazole?? by the second night he slept through without waking once, he had been waking up to 15 times screaming in pain... he has had a couple of bad nights since but has just come down with tonsillitis so maybe connected?

am hoping things continue to improve as next step is more invasive tests and possibly an op to fix the hernia.

xx

Hi Kate

That's great news that olivers new drug is helping I bet you're relieved. What else did pead say about the longer term?
Thats great news, so pleased for you - what a relief that something is working. I'm also interested to know what paed said re the longer term, as my son is 18mths and still on 10mg omeprazole (but it does work really well for him).
Hi Kate, That'a great re new meds & sleeping! Sorry no experience re hiatus hernia other than think that's what my Grandma has so she's always slept really propped up. Hope things continue to improve x
hi.

sorry i took so long to reply have been really poorly and not been up to use the laptop for a few weeks.. long term if things dont improve oliver will go in for the ph probe, a repeat barium swallow and then the possibility of an operaton to fix the hiatus hernia!
things are really looking up he is so much better at night but as i have learnt before these meds never seem to last forever..fingers crossed i am proved wrong!
xx
thats great news kate, really hope it stays like that !
