LittleRefluxers

Hi all

I've started giving my 12 month old some Neocate Nutra as a pudding and he loves it.  I was so relieved as puddings are such a challenge for us as he has multiple food allergies/intollerances.  One of my Facebook friends told me she couldn't order it off her local pharmacy as Neocate were rebranding it.  I ordered it from mine no probs at all but having just looked at the Neocate website, it's no longer listed on their products page.  Does anyone know what is going on as I'm a little worried they might have discontinued it in the UK.  Surely they wouldn't, would they??

Thanks in advance for your help!

HI Geri

was at the dietician last week and i asked about neocate nutra- didnt know you could give it as pudding tho- good idea! she said it is being rebranded before going back on market. apparently a pharmacist gave it to a mum instead of neocate lcp by mistake and there was a big hoo haa about it as they look very similar. hopefully can get it soon- def going to try it as a pud.
i noticed your lo has multiple foodintolerances- looks like we're going the same way. My son has cmpa, and has also reacted to potaoes and pepper ( not even going to try tomatoes as its the same nightshade family of veg as previous 2!) and poss gluten although we need to try it again. not looking forward to it.

how do you keep a varied diet- its so restricting!

Emma
HI Geri, forgot to add that lentils are also off the menu for us. is it just trial and error till we've worked our way through everything?
Hi Emma

Thanks for this, it seems a little stupid that they are taking it off the market whilst they rebrand it. I've heard a few stories where pharmacists had ordered the wrong product. Hopefully it will be back very soon as Samuel loves it! Samuel can't handle dairy, soya, gluten, wheat, tomatoes, fish and large quantities of berries (he's fine with the shop bought fruit pots). Have you tried red lentils as they are supposed to be easier to digest? It was all trial and error for us. We weaned him at 16 weeks and gave him every meat veg under the sun and he was fine. It wasn't until I started to introduce wheat and gluten that things took a turn for the worse. We've also been told to stay clear of eggs. He's been allergic to dairy since birth but it took 4 1/2 months for the docs to listen. He's also lactose intollerant. He was really bad when we gave him Lactulose to help with his constipation. It's a nightmare and we're doing our best to vary his diet but he's going through a very fussy stage at the mo which is making it almost impossible!
Hey! We had a similar problem - only this time it was the GP who ordered the Neocate Nutra instead of LCP for us and I didn't even realise until I'd got home that it was something different! I wasn't sure what it was to begin with so I acutally phoned the manufacturer (number on the tin) and spoke to a wonderfully helpful dietician there who explained that it was a new product (would've been about April/May time) that they'd made because so many people with los with multiple food allergies had problems finding things to wean - especially when it came to puddings. She did say you could make things like custard and rice pudding and white sauce etc etc with it. But then again she did say you could do that with the LCP too though am assuming its more for children over 1 than infants as children over 1 wouldn't be on the LCP! Interestingly ds can also have shop bought fruit pots, though not the ones with strawberry in them as he comes out in a spotty rash everywhere........like he does with tomatoes! Anyway I don't think they would discontinue it as its a new product so guessing they are just rebranding????

I actually have 2 tins of unopened, unused Neocate Nutra in my cupboard - the pharmacy wouldn't take them back even though they had been ordered wrong. They've been there since May, but I am more than happy to send them to you if you'd like them as I'd rather try and help someone then me end up throwing them away unopened and unused. Its more like a pantry really so dark and cool - so have been stored properly.
Hi Kerry

I saw the dietician this afternoon who confirmed they were indeed rebranding it and had taken it off the market temporarily as docs kept prescribing Nutra instead of the milk. Silly docs, they're not the brightest bunch are they?!! I'd love your two tins, how much would you like for them? THanks for your offer!
well thats what happened to us! even as i sat in front of him he looked at the computer and went "oh neocate...........well i don't know which one it is so we'll just go with the top one".........which happened to be the nutra! i don't use a lot of it when i make custard/puddings for ds and we had 4 tins so am happy to send you the other 2 remaining ones as i think we'll be a long time getting through the 2 we've got!! can you send me a message on here with your address on? then i can put them in the post to you. don't worry about the cost - that's daft as i got them on prescription anyway and i am sure it won't cost that much to post. i'm just glad i can help someone out who's in a similar position to us :-)
Hi Kerry

Just realised I never replied to your post! I've sent you a message with my address on. Thank you once again for your very kind offer, I hope it's not too much trouble. We're now out and Samuel really, really liked it. Thanks again
sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sorry! it's been on the side waiting to post all weekend. i promise i'll get it in the post today :-\
