LittleRefluxers

Hi
My little boy has just been diagnosed with reflux and been given gaviscon, he used to drink x6 6-7oz in 24 hours but now only drinks 1-3oz in 24 hours. my question is do you use two sachets in one feed, he is 14lb 4oz on the box it says to use a dual sachet, does this mean two. sorry to be thick but I've had a rough night and just want things confirmed.

Thanks Ruth

Hi there - Isla takes this medication and a dual sachet is both sides - so when you pull out a strip from the box - put both doses in the bottle - I think a dual sachet needs to be in a minimum of 7oz (ish)

Hope this helps

he was on 7oz but we brought him down to 6oz as he never takes the whole bottle, but if he needs the double dose I will up it to 7oz again, thanks.x

We also used to make up 7oz and give the dual sachet then just waste an ounce if he didn't drink it as in 6oz you should use half the dual sachet (if that makes sense) and it is watered down too much. The other thing is mix it to a paste with a little water first and then add to the bottle as it tends to mix better if you add the powder to the bottle of milk it tends to stick together in lumps and either clog the teat or remain at the bottom of the bottle.

Some people say gaviscon didn't work for them but for us it has been pretty good although we are on Omeprazole as well now.

Hope this helps and don't worry about being confused when my lo was on our local paed ward even the nurses were confused!!
