LittleRefluxers

Hello
My daughter Fraya is nearly 11 months old and has suffered from severe vomiting from age 13 weeks where she would vomit all of her feed nearly every feed. This has now majorly improved but her solid eating is poor due to her averion to feeding through being sick so much. She refuses all spoon foods (apart from rusk with milk!) but will eat finger foods. She can only eat really small amounts though and very small pieces. So far I have tried her with pieces of bread with butter or cheese spread, pear, banana, rusk, toast with cheese on, rice crispies, the wotsit type carrot stick things, cheese & grapes. Does anyone have any other ideas for things I can try and progress onto. Does anyone have similar stories of their babies refusing spoon food and only eating finger food? If so, do you think they eat enough? A typical meal for Fraya would be 2 crisp type things and 3 bits of bread - ie she is hardly eating anything!
Thanks

Hi there Emma, thanks for your reply on my page. Thought would put finger food ideas here:...Have you tried putting some soft cheese/cheese spread on the end of the crispy things? Liam loves this. Also although he needs to concentrate he can manage some fish finger on a good day (do in the over not the grill to avoid going too cripsy - can dip some cheese sauce on the end to make less crispy too if you like), Liam is absolutely obsessed with Kingsmill scotch pancakes - they break up very easily in the mouth (and all over your floor....). Again you can put on butter or soft cheese - prepare for mess though. If you are looking for high calories foods (as we've been advised as Liam still little) we love chocolate flakes and chocolate buttons. Cake is good too - can buy sponge fingers, pink wafer biscuits, rich tea. We also have this little net on the end of a handle you can put fruit and veg in so baby can feed themselves - we've had pear, melon and banana in it, but you might like to try with veges?? You can get this thing in the Jo Jo Maman catalogue I think, costs about ten pounds. Hope this helps for now....

Liam is good thank you, he is teething and has had cold but enjoying himself. It's his first birthday next Sat!. Is drinking far less than Fraya but keener than he used to be. Also prefering finger foods to purees at the moment, but not to Fraya's extent which must make life difficult for you. Hope she is getting on ok apart from that. Liam is off to the childminders fo trial run next week so we will see how he gets on eating for her...
