Do unsettled, screaming reflux babies grow up to be unhappy children?

This is something that really worries me. Bella is so unsettled and cries all the time - Im worried that this will impact her development and she will grow up unhappy? Does anyone have experience of this?

Hi there

My daughter Anna was a great screamer, poor sleeper, poor feeder etc etc....to look at her now you would not believe me, she is the happiest, chattiest, cheekiest wee girl and eats more than her brother these days and loves her food and has a zest for life and fun!!!! Hope this helps.

Thanks both - that helps. How old was Anna when she grew out of it?
Hi
Anna was 10 months when she grew out of reflux, you could see the happy wee girl beneath it all, and when she commenced losec and domperidone at 5 months we saw more and more of the happy wee girl coming through. It will all work out, you just have to do what you need to do as a family to get yourselves through. Get as much help as possible and a bit of time out and if she is sick on those who don't understand or believe have a good laugh!!!

Hi

My son is now 13 months old and is the happiest, cutest little thing, even though the first several months were hell!!! Don't worry - your little one will be fine.

Daisy is 18 months old, she still has reflux but does not scream and cry with it, unfortunately she wakes up on average 5 times a night. However she enjoys her food including fruit and chocolate!. She is a happy little girl who enjoys causing mischief.

As a mum of 3 and having 2 babies with very severe reflux (how unlucky). My first and third affected. I can honestly say no My daughter is now 14yrs and she is a very happy teenager, she suffered severe reflux till she was nearly 3, but once she finally did grow out of it she was the most happiest girl in the world...............and as a teenager she is fantastic, I think she got all her moans growns and being unhappy out of the way in the first 2 yrs of life.

We have just got our 3rd (refluxer ) on solids now and our consultant can't believe the difference, he is still on omeprazole 15mg per day, we have stopped the domperidone and is happy on sma staydown milk....but 3 months ago the consultant stated that as his was very severe we would be looking at 18mths to 2 years before he would improve, well I think it will be much sooner with his progress.
