LittleRefluxers

My little boy, 4 months (5 months in 11 days) seems to have his reflux back on. At 3 weeks he was diagnosed with it and was well controlled with baby gaviscon and infacol for his colic. By 3 months, I pretty much stopped the medicine as he was coping fine and was not really regurgitating his milk but the last few weeks he has a bit burp and then a lot of milk comes out from his mouth and nose. Now the last few days his nose seems to be blocked up and I definetely see a redness in his bum! Though he does not cry, the only time he is unsettled is at night and specially the last 2 nights.. he wakes up needs a burp and wants our cuddle. I've given up about routine, he never really managed to fall asleep on his own unless he is in pushchair.
I don't get it, could it be teething which disturb him or can the reflux be back on?
Should I go and see the doctor and ask another medicine? as baby gaviscon does not seem to do anything now.
he is breastfed and I've only introduced baby rice but not every day too as I'm too worried about his stomach.

My lo was diagnosed at 8 weeks and was also under control with Gaviscon, although we did still have flare ups occasionally, we went downhil from 4 months as well (he is 5 months on Friday) we have just returned from 3 days on the Pead ward as it got so bad at the weekend and we are now on Omeprazole. My understanding is that they usually grow out of it between 6 and 12 months so it probably is reflux but teething and colds make it flare up (this is what has happened to Harry this weekend) so you may need other meds.
thanks Wendy. I'm def. off to the doctor tomorrow! Hoping to get the doc. who diagnosed him ....
Hi hun - my LO still has her reflux but it was well controlled by meds but recently she started teething and its much much worse so yes it could be teething - the excess saliva causes more acid!!
My LO got much worse about 4 months I'm sorry to say. That's sort of when our problems started. I heard that reflux peaks around the 4 month mark and then they start to grow out of it. That was certainly the case for us.
But it is also worse with teeth so hope it's just that for you!
thanks for your replies. Went to the doctor with my husband this morning. Doctor was great but as Jack just came out of a viral infection 2 weeks ago (as he still has a stuffy nose ect),she wishes to make sure that his health settled before we discussed the next step although she was prepared to refer us to a paed. We are happy to wait another 10 days but that is it!
My next step in the next few days is to introduce him to roat veg. and see how he gets on.
Hope it goes well

W x
thanks Wendy. Gave sweet potatoe to Jack this morning. 3 hours later when he was playing on the floor, he vomited but did not cry though now he seems to be uncomfortable in his sleep and looking like he has a bad taste in his mouth!!
