Hi
Sorry to be a pain, but saw Dr Shah at GOSH today for our first initial consultation. Feel very positive and that finally we have seen someone who understands what Jack is going thru (2 year old) and that it is not just the reflux that is the issue but that everything else that goes with it.
He has asked us to try 3 new meds on top of the ones Jack already takes (domperidone, Omeprazole,Ketitofen, Cetirizine). The new ones are Nalson,(I think.... he's handwriting is not great), Monteleukast and Azithromycin.
Does anyone elses child take these and can let me know a little about them? Would really appreciate it.
Hope everyone is getting some peace and quiet with their little ones this evening. xxxx

my son had nalcrom and it is for food allergies and also he was prescribed azithromycin for his intercurrent illnesses as he was catchin toomany bugs and was ill all the time. these are the two meds i know of.
hope this is helpful :)
love
We've tried Montelukast to try and help reduce some of the symptoms related to allergies.
It worked in that Seb stopped rubbing his nose constantly and certainly reduced the nighttime coughing and his breathing wasn't as laboured. However after about 3 weeks he seemed to be sleeping really restlessly, waking up screaming but not the reflux type scream. We put it down to nightmares in the end (as this is one of the side effects) so stopped it.
I do know of others though who say it is amazing, so very much child dependent.
I agree with Bev - don't introduce all at once or else it'll be difficult to tell what is helping and what may be causing further issues.
Good Luck.x
Thanks for all your relies.....Dr Shah suggested we introduce them 2 weeks apart, hoping to pick up the prescription tomorrow so can start the Nalcron tomorrow xxx

Prior to starting it he had a permanent wheeze sounded like an old man who'd just run a marathon. And had been having at least one hospital admission a month with breathing difficulties. Within days the change in him was amazing and we've never looked back.
Like Laura says everyone reacts differently to things and for us it is the best thing the dr's have ever done for him. Not had any problems with it at all side effects wise.
I will just add that he has it in the powdered sachet form. They also do a chewable tablet and he did react to this hives etc which i think was the cherry flavouring.
