My 7 month old constantly needs to burp it's driving me mad! So far tonight he fell asleep at 7 after drinking 2 oz has woke 5 times crying (this is normal) burped every time. Wouldn't stop crying so fed again as normally has 7 oz before bed and so far has been an hour of him trying to sleep but having to be sat up to burp. It doesn't seem to matter how much long ago he's fed he constantly burps! He's on 20mg omeprazole, sometimes gavisvon and stopped domperidone. What else could I do to help the burping, he doesn't seem to be in pain eating these days but will eat half his tea then wont have more cause he needs to burp again and again!

burping is related to indigestion. inability to digest = intolerance. What milk is he on? might be worth trialing neocate or nutramigen AA if you are not already to exclude cows milk protein for a while to see if that makes an improvement.

Have you tried infacol or gripewater at all?  x

My LO is on nutramigen AA and 20mg Omeprazole and a very windy baby!

If he cries in his cot - no matter how long after feeding - usually it's because he needs to burp.  Having a bad patch with teething at mo but when pain is managed well the burping/wind seems better.

What formula does your LO have?
He has been on neocate about 3 months
Do you think there is something else wrong if he can't digest neocate. The peadatrician says there is nothing else they can do, he doesn't seem in pain back arching etc just uncomfortable cause he has to burp and wakes about 20 times a night.

Does anyone know if he can have gripe water or infacol with omeprazole?
Which bottles do you use with your lo. Finley was always full of burps which made him be sick. Then I swapped him onto doctor browns and mam anti colic bottles and he is so much better doesn't have anywhere near as much air. He is 9.5 months old, I tried swapping him onto stardard bottles when he was 9 months old and oh my the wind gave him so much pain and he looked so uncomfortable was crying and wriggling around. So they most definitely do a good job at reduced the wind intake x
Thanks but he is on dr browns bottles and have been told if he's still burping 4 hours after a feed it's unlikely to be air sucked in. He's took hour and half to go to sleep so far as needing to burp nearly gave gripe water but worried in case he shouldn't have it with his meds
What winding technique do you currently use, Claire? My daughter is 'windy' so I completely empathise with your frustration, but we found various different positions and techniques helped her bring up a burp. Happy to share if required xx
Well once he's sat up he usually brings it up eventually himself but if he can't get one up we try everything. It's not such a problem that he can't burp as always does in the end the problem is that as soon as he gas he needs to do another and another and it goes on forever!
My LO sounds like your Clare. He can burp very easily himself (HV even commented on it) but then he'll need to do another one and he could be in his cot fir half an hr, cry, pick him up and he does another one. Is it unfortunately just slow guts do you think? X
