LittleRefluxers

Hi everybody

We have just got back from our gp and our 5 week old has been diagnosed with reflux, which we had been fearing for a couple of weeks. Our main problem is his sleeping at night, he will stuggle around and thrash when he is laid on his back and his breathing becomes problematic, like his nose is bunged up. When he does finally nod off he will do the thrashing and breathing for a while before he wakes up crying. We are going invest in some kind of wedge but with their being so many to choose from, could anybody recommend one to suit our needs. We are hoping to get him back in his moses basket so it needs to fit, and he seems to be more comfortable while lying on his side. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Claire,

My LO is in a moses basket too, we found that propping up one end of the basket works just aswell, but I think website advertised on here does wedges small enough (www.babyreflux.org).

Hi Claire our LO Poppy is 4 months old with reflux and has had sleeping issues but last week we bought an Amby Baby Natures Nest and our lifes have changed. Poppy is sleeping from 7pm until 5am then going back to sleep until 7am and we've only had it a week. It was expensive £150 but it's the best money I've spent. If you want any more advice on were to buy one then let me know but I'd strongly recommend you to have a look www.ambybaby.co.uk. If you do buy you're best buying from ebay (best4baby). Hope this has helped. Karen
Thanks for the advice ladys, obviously very early days as he was only diagnosed today but will see how he gets on tonight after infant gaviscon, although we are not holding our breath as he didnt take to the first feed with it in at all. The hammock bed looks fantastic, pricey but well worth it for babys happiness. Did it really make that much of a differance?
Yes it's been fantastic. Before we got it Poppy was up between 2 & 5 times a night being feed twice of those times but since we got the hammock she's been sleeping from 7pm until 5/5.30am getting a feed then going back to sleep until 7/7.30. I was really septical about buying it and chopped and changed my mind for a week before taking advice from some ladies on this site. I've foound since she's sleeping better at night that it's easier to cope with the reflux during the day as we're rested better and it doesn't seem as bad. She's also started feeding better and seemingly if baby sleeps well they'll feed better (there was a leaflet in with the Amby explaining this) don't know if this is the case but we have defo found it a life saver and I would highly recommed it to anyone with or without reflux. If you've got any more questions let me know. Karen x
Hello,
We put towels underneath the moses basket and then transferred our son to his cot at about 6 weeks and bought one of those wedges in the cot from the babyreflux.co.uk - he is still using it now and he is 5 and half months old :)
