LittleRefluxers

Hi all

Although my LO is much much better with her reflux and eats and drinks well now (although still hates milk) I just wanted to know if its common for babies with reflux to be slow developers - my LO is now 10 months and she still doesn't crawl or pull herself up to standing - she will stand and sit well but is showing no signs of being interested in being mobile yet

My little boy was up on his feet by this time

Just wondered if she might be affected as she spent so little on the first 5 months being out of my arms????

Hello

My 6 1/2 month old has silent reflux and is way ahead of all the other babies his age so I don't think the refux has affected his development eventhough he suffered really badly with it. My baby is currently refusing to sit and will only stand or roll over accross the floor. He's incredibly active and is quite small for his age. He spent a lot of time in my arms too but eventually just wanted to lay on the floor so I just let him get on with it! If you're worried, perhaps talk to your paed or HV?
I haven't noticed that reflux has slowed Josie's development. She is doing everything at pretty much the same rate as her sister. She is nearly 9 months and has pulled herself up today for the first time. For such a tiny thing she is very strong and determined though - and very inquisitive (some might say nosy!) I was really worried about her development when she was younger but I think they all just do everything at their own pace.
Hi Guys yes guess it could just be this - she is happy to sit and play with toys and says quite a few words so guess I just have a talker rather than a mover she loves standing though but just not interested in crawling etc each time she gets on her tummy she does the typical sky divers pose and screams her head off - oh well

I'm afraid I am going to agree with the others Harry is way ahead of where my eldest was at this age and is so active he drives me mad as he is never still! But interestingly enough Thomas had teeth at 4 months, Harry still has none but I guess this just illustrates that they are all individuals it may be that she is just content sitting and watching what is going on where as my little man is desperate to be running after his brother!!!

Try not to worry hun I am sure she will catch up, but I know that after so long worrying about them it is really hard to let them be normal babies.

A friend of mine had a little girl who was very vocal early and just missed out the crawling stage and went from sitting to walking.
Hi ya, yeah i do think they can seem to be a little slower, my daughter didn't sit up until 7 1/2 months old, crawled at 9 months and never walked until neally 14 months old.
But she was VERY vocal really early, and is exceptional clever for her age 17 months old.
Maybe with all that pain comes a race of brilliance, Lets hope one of the little refluxers go on to pioner the prevention of it, before birth, so no more suffering....... (nice dream ay).
Thanks hun - ,my little girl already says 8 words at 10 months so guess she is a talker
Hi my little girl is starting late, she is 1 and can't roll or crawl. I'm sure that because we couldn't ever lay her flat she didn't have the opportunity to do these things. I also know the sky divers pose and screaming thing well!! But she is very vocal and really switched on.
She sounds just like my LO - she can roll but only cos everytime I put her on her front and try to ignore the crying (to get her to crawl) she eventually flips herself over xx
Hi, my baby girl was diagnosed with reflux 2 weeks ago and from some of the articles i've read it's been mentioned that reflux babies may longer to learn to smile and roll over, which could be due to their pain. Was your lo preterm? That could cause slower development.
