LittleRefluxers

Hi guys, just a quick rant, came back from the G.Ps just and they said my daughter cannot have Wysoy on prescription anymore as she only has a cows milk protein allergy. Grr. Savannah is 11 months old, has silent reflux, and the cows milks protein allergy. From day 1 i said i thought she had silent reflux but nobody believed me, same with the milk allergy, i kept telling them there was something wrong with the mik, they put it down to me overreacting. Ive had to fight tooth and nail to get my daughter the medication, referrals etc. Savannah is still yet to sleep through the night(she wakes up every 15-30 minutes crying in her sleep, tossing and turning. Im sick to death of  the lack of support from healthcare professions. I had PND when she was first born because Savannah screamed and cried all day, wouldnt feed and i got depressed. It turns out now, after i had a rant and broke down on the phone to the G.P that they will prescribe it.......turns out, it was all to do with budgets. It doesnt matter they we have spent money on wedges, humidifiers, specialist foods, mik etc. This was only the second time i have put in for a prescription for Wysoy, i have brought it up until now because it took them 10 months to diagnose the cows milk protein allergy, even though i told them from day 1 i thought she had it!!!!!Still having reflux flare ups, she doesnt eat lumps or textured foods, refuses to eat them or gags and vomits. What do i have to do to get my daughter the care shes entitled to??? xxxxxxxxxxx

Hi there
That's just silly. If they admit that she has a cows milk protein allergy then they have to prescribe something for her that doesn't contain cows milk protein. To prescribe her anything other than Wysoy would cost them more, Nutramigen aa, is £22 a tin. So are they refusing to prescribe her anything? Honestly, I'm fed up with GP's
I hope your ok
Laraxxx
Thanks Lara, they have back tracked and are now giving her the WYSOY, i dont think they banked on me kicking off and complaining so much lol. Its just so frustrating all the time, they have no idea what its like, and it turns out they were trying to cut back due to their budget!! How dare they, my daughter is underweight, i asked for Nutramigen when she was 2 months old cos i said i thought she had an allergy to formula milk but they wouldnt prescribe it!! 7 months later they diagnose her with the allergy id been saying she had all along. It gets you mad. Thanks Lara, its nice to know im not going mad. ;)) x x x x
Hi Anthea, your not going mad chuck, just the opersite, All I can say is go with your gut feeling your her mom and will know best. My daughter was 12 hours old when I first stated there is some thing wrong with the milk.
I complained that much, the peds came to look at her within 2 hours, and ordered a lactose intolarence test done. This was not completed until she was three weeks old (not bad ay, 3 weeks to be able to complete at test knowning the milk I was feeding her could be causing the pain).
Much to my amazement it came back negative. I was then just dropped with no other reason for her crying and screaming. Until she had a bluedoo at 5 weeks old and stopped breathing. A hospital admission and then hospital consultant was sorted, and a diagnoses of server silent reflux was given.
normal milk was used until 5 months old where my daughter then refused ANY milk intake. Her dairy intolarence was not diagnosed until she was 14 months old... I often wonder now as she is 2 years old and STILL completely dairy free, if I should have done more cause the milk issue was always there, and may be she was trying to tell me some thing when she refused milk at 5 months old.
