So how do you do this? My son won't drink out of anything - occasionally has a couple of sips of water from an open cup. If I was to do the syringe route, it would mean 3 syringes before every feed - no fun. How do you do it?!!

And can you make it up in advance? I find making paste pretty rubbish when you have a very hungry baby at your side.

Hi there Clare

When my daughter Poppy was on Gaviscon for two months or so, the only way I had any success was by adminstering it via a small 1.0ml syringe just half a syringe at a time all during the feed - which was definitely tricky as it does not taste nice to babies - lots of salt/sodium and also meant lots of interruption to her during the feed as she would require at least three syringes full as you say. At least the milk after each syringe dose would take the taste away for her so we did have some success after much practice. The other way to administer Gaviscon is to add it to the milk feed itself, I know several other parents who have success this way, however it does make it much thicker and can be problematic depending on the type of teats you are using and also it changes the taste of the milk which would result in Poppy refusing the whole feed on the occasions I tried that option. To be honest, I did not find that Gaviscon helped my daughter in her particular case and have now moved onto Carobel thickener which so far seems to be better, however MANY parents do report good success with Gaviscon - so wishing you lots of luck, best wishes, joanne
Hi Clare.
My little one initailly took it from a small cup or plastic spoon but eventually refused. Pead advised expressing milk and adding it to expressed milk...providing he will take it from a bottle. If he is not used to a bottle try initally using someone else to give him milk as often they are confused by bottle if real thing is there too.
Saying this however I only lasted a day of doing this, as I am single so have no one else to hold him upright, i spent a whole day sterilising and expressing until my boobs didn't know what had hit them and were sore and hard! Ouch. Careful planning and bit by bit?
Good luck
Karen
I also did expressing and mixing in a bottle I found that if you use a double pump and pump regularly you can build up lots of stocks of it so you can also leave the LO with hubby or another person and have a break

Good luck
