LittleRefluxers

well we had andrew at chelsea and westminster yesterday for his first paed appointment. The consultant got to see him feed as andrew was due his bottle at the same time watching him he said he was a typical reflux baby the way he feeds but he is doin well putting on weight we were told to tak ehim off the colief as he doesnt think andrew is lactose intolerant although he said we will see in time so now for 6 weeks andrew is on 7mg ranitidine 3 times day and 1.4mg of domperidone (sp) 3 times a day then reviwe it he has also suggested givin andrew a teaspoon of natural low fat yoghurt with brown sugar to help with his constipation, put the good bacteria back into his tummy and to help his osoephegus (has anyone heard of this before?) so im hoping fingers crossed all should now go well the drugs will work and with the weaning we should start coming out the other side without having to have any tests done. Wish me luck.

Hi Laura, sorry to hear about Andrew has reflux he shouldn't be on colief anyway as it makes reflux worse as it relaxes the stomach muscle to help bring trapped wind up, but the muscle is already not working properly causing the reflux. I haven't heard of the natural yoghurt before, if anything i steer clear of yoghurts as a lot of reflux babies are intolerant/allergic to milk protein have they mentioned any of this to you? Good luck. Sharon x
hi
the paed doesnt think he has an allergy or intolerance to milk or lactose and so far he hasnt shown any sign of it since coming off the colief and havin the yoghurt so im keeping my fingers crossed that he isnt allergic/intolerant but it had been mentioned by hv so its now just a case of wait and see
Hi Laura again i just hope he is ok with it, how old is Andrew? Sharon x
andrew is now 19 weeks (just over 4 months) he is really enjoyin the yoghurt and touch wood it hasnt had a bad effect at all i have started weanin him to so far he likes carrots apples and pears so looks like things are on the up although we still have trouble with the feeding of the milk how is your little one going
Hi Laura again i am glad Andrew is doing well with the weaning a lot of reflux babies struggle. But if his reflux starts playing up again it could be that he is intolerant to something. Good luck. Zoe is fine thankyou thanks for asking. Sharon x
