Anybody's LOs had breathing difficulties related to reflux?
Callum vomits up to 30x per day and lately he has started to gasp and choke quite badly when he is being sick. Sometimes (about 1-2 times per day) he just stops breathing while he is waiting for his vomit to come up. He doesn't go blue, except for between his eyes. It doesn't last long, only about 10 seconds but is getting longer as the days/ weeks go on. It was only about 3-5 secs. His eyes look like they are bulging ever so slightly and they water a lot. As soon as he vomits, he breathes again.
After an episode like this, he also crunches up whilst he lays on your knee and grunts and breath holds for up to 5-8 seconds. Almost like straining but he isn't pushing. He has started to do this more and more, particularly in the evenings. What could this be? Has anybody else experienced this?

Hi Jennifer Zoe still does it now but she is not sick i watched her last night in her sleep she holds it for about 25-30secs then shudders and takes a breath, when she was younger she obviously had not choice but to hold her breath when she was being violently sick where it came up through her nose and she choked and gagged on it trying to breath bless her, but all i got told is it is normal to posset because of her weight gain no one believed me. Zoe is 16 and half months old now but saying that her reflux is playing up she had a bad night again coughing and nearly being sick i could hear the acid coming up, i hate it when i listen to her trying to get comfy and choking. Apparantly it is a normal reflux thing, that is what the peads have told me she as even gone on to hold her breath longer and have seizures whilst asleep and they have told me this is normal. So who knows. Ask the pead next time do what i do and take lots of questions to remind you. Good luck and hope you get Callum sorted out soon. Sharon x
