LittleRefluxers

Hi all, havent been on for a while as Harrisons been sort of ok, meds have had to be up'd and had a bad few weeks a few weeks ago due to virus.
But on the whole things are looking up a little for us as far as the reflux apart from "sleep problems"
Harrison has a very good bed time routine, bath at 6.30pm bottle at 7.45pm bed at 7pm, this has to be the way because i work in the evenings from home on my p.c 7 -- 10pm so both my children are in bed at 7pm, which i think is a good time.

Harrison will wake again at 11ish-12 ish for another feed, somtimes waking again inbetween at around 2ish - 3ish moaning with tummy pains, reflux making sounds in his tummy then can take up to an hour to settle back, then up again at 4is-5ish for another feed, sometimes waking inbetween this as well then thats it up for the day!!! . Sometimes im in the lounge at 5am watching teletubbies.............. its getting very bad now, my husband has to get up to take our other son aged 6yrs to school then he has to go to work 9am - 9pm he works long hours so he cant get up in the night , although he does on thurs nights.
People say "oh well catch up in the day" thing is, as we all know we have things to do in the day. Not only that, Harrison will nap 1 hr at about 8.30 - 9am then maybe in the car when i go to school at 3.45pm and thats it. Just dont know where he gets his energy from.
I just dont know how to get him to sleep longer, we used to wrap him but his getting to big now and just pulls out of it.
PLS NEED ADVISE, VERY TEIRD AND FEELING LIKE I CANT COPE ANY MORE.

Hi Nikki,

I really do sympathise, I remember what that awful tiredness is like. Is your baby on omeprazole? Our baby starting sleeping through the night and much better in the day approx 7 days after starting on this. I'm sure it made him comfortable enough to sleep. Let me know

Thanks for your reply, yeah Harrison has been on omperazole from 8 weeks old hun, and now his on the max dose, also on domperidone 3 times a day 3mgs, cant go any higher for his weight at the mo. teething makes the reflux worse i know but he just wont settle even with calpol. Maybe time for a re visit to our pead i think. Gonna try and get to bed now after working and making all the waters for night time ahead!!!! god i bet my head hits the pillow and he wakes............bless him. ( been asleep for 3 hrs )
thanks for all support, any other ideas??

Hi Nikki i know exactly what you are going through, as Zoe is the same. I don't know how old Harrison is but Zoe is 15mths old and she has been like this since being born. I am now so tired i work part time as well and have 3 other children so am constantly on the go i am just Zombified......Zoe is on 20mg of Omeprazole and 15mg of domperidone and gaviscon and dairy free diet and nutramigen milk. I am off to see the pead tomorrow morning thank god, i don't know how much more i can take. My brain is just constant fog most things i do without thinking automatic i think due to lack of sleep, i can't even go out socialising anymore i have two drinks and i am drunk no good to anyone. Zoes sleep pattern sounds just like Harrison's. I feel for you i just hope you don't have to suffer this long. Sharon x
oh hell................god that long...........
Sharon do you feed Zoe in the night? see we do and Im sure he dont need it but we just give him the milk to try and comfort him a bit............wind is such a big issue 2, he gets burps stuck and passes wind ALOT!!!! we go through gripe water like nothing in this house. Is this like Zoe?
God what can we do ay.....its hell, all my friends and mums at the school who's babies are 10 wks, 15 wks all sleep through the night. It makes me feel so down like im doing something wrong. Maybe iam????

Hi Nikki you are doing nothing wrong i have 3 other children and they were fine and we did have slightly disrupted sleep but it was more because they wanted to play not with all other issues like Zoe and Harrison are going through. If we are lucky Zoe will sleep for an hour before crying again on a bad night she will be disturbed every 10-20mins. Her sleep pattern has gone pete tong at the moment it is all over the place i need to get her back into a pattern, i went out for a meal last night and partner was in charge kids went to bed at nine, he put zoe to bed at 7 then she woke up at 9 probably disturbed with other children, then kept her awake until i got home about half ten then she was disturbed rest of night until half five then i got up with her then put her back to bed at 7. My partner has not got a clue he thinks if he starves them of sleep they will sleep longer, in fact it is the opposite i normally put her to bed at 6 then she will sleep a bit disturbed but more or less until about 1 or 2 then because of reflux disturbing her sleep she will eventually come around i will take her down to partner who is still normally up then he brings her to bed when he comes and then she will sleep until about 8 or 9 in the morning. So she has a bit more sleep. I am so tired am going to see the pead in 2 hrs luckily i have wrote it all down what i want to mention as i have no brain it is still asleep, unlike me......Zoe as no gripe water apparantly it can make babies with reflux worse and it doesn't work. I tried all the remedies when she was younger when hv said it was colic......Have you tried Harrison without gripe water? Sharon x
Hi guys

just reading your posts. My stella's sleep (7 months) is dreadful too. She is on max losec 20 mg and domp. I've stopped gaviscon as I can't get her to suck the bottle as it is so none will go in with that. I find a dummy helps. Obviously it creates more sleep probs but at least she'll go back to sleep when she wakes up. Our nights our completely up and down and she almost sleeps more when she eats less as her reflux is so bad. I have put some towels under one part of the mattress so it acts like a wedge and props her up a bit. I can't tilt the whole cot as she is so active and would roll and get stuck in one end. I think the wedge tilting has helped. I concur with Sharon about sleep. I have a two year old who sleeps like a dream. I have never known anything as chronic as stella's sleep! I have stopped waking stella up at 7am too as she's not going to sleep until about 9pm, so unsettled and refluxy.
Any tips from anyone would be appreciated too.

gosh, our poor , poor babies......oh no gripe water makes the reflux worse??? our pead said its ok for his windy times. ????? CONFUSED!!!!

God its such a worry isn't it, with regards to cot wedges we bought a great one from the website, Harrison cannot and will not lie flat so this helps him sooo much. We had a good night last night baby slept from 12 till 5am woooo hoooo , i feel so alive...done all my house work today......lol.........
I just wonder what their little minds must think when their in sooo much pain. It breaks my heart to think of them suffering like this.
I always sit and think why us? why us? but thank god they will grow out of it, PLS GOD!!!
Feeling much more posative today,
Thanks for all support
