The recent stay was for 2 weeks. asll the advice the professionaals give on boosting her appetite deon't work. I don't want her to have any more feeding tubes! would welcome any advice. thank you

Hi Nikki

Sorry I can't help as I only had to deal with refusing to feed from the breast so I can't offer you any advice. Your little girl is so sweet and so sorry you are going through this. I am sure some others will be able to offer some advice. I know Helena's little girl has been referred to someone who deals with food aversion but i am sure you have been down that road if your little one is 18 months?

Sorry I can't help.

Hope someone can offer some advice.
Hi Nikki

Sorry to hear your little girl and you have been and still are going through such a hard time.
My little one has suffered from oral aversion and refusal to eat. At the moment she's 9 months old and only accepting her bottles although she only manages to drink small amounts. for this reason she's on concentrated formula feeds.
She can't manage reasonable amounts of solids- when she's not refusing to take them- either, so the dietitian advised to mix her solids with dairy free sunflower spread- she's suspected to have an allergy to cow's milk protein- to provide her with some extra calories and protein. probably you're already doing this but I didn't want to miss any detail.
Like for your girl, poor weight gain is a problem too and has needed some hospital admissions to be tube fed when it's been neccessary.
Recently, our consultant has referred her to the here (Cambridgeshire) called "Eating and thriving team" who deal with feeding problems in children. There is a psicologist and nurse in the team to asses the situation and give parents advice. I'm still waiting to hear from them so I don't know how helpful it will all be, but be sure I'll keep you informed. Maybe you could ask the paediatrician if there's anything similar in your area and ask them to refer your little mite.
In the meantime I've taken my baby to a pediatrician and homeopath who has prescribed some homeopathic meds to give her for 10 to 30 days. We started yesterday, so it's still early to see any improvement. Again, I'll keep you posted on Alexandra's progress.
Big hug for your little princess who might be underweight but also absolutely GORGEOUS.
Take care
Helena X
