Omeprazole in sodium bicarbonate - how long to be effective?

I did have the omeprezole in sodium but Lauren had already been on the tablet form for a few months - we purely tried the sodium solution as it was easier to administer. They say omeprezole should be effective within 2-4 weeks. How long has your daughter been on it for in total and what dose is she on? Also, are you breastfeeding or formula - I am sure you have read up on the site but I and many others have had great success with a dairy and soya free diet.

Thanks for the response. My daughter has been on Omeprazole for approx 1 month now - twice / day. We started dissolving it in sodium bicarbonate & saw some improvement, then went to dissolving in water & putting it in her formula because she would gag / scream every time we gave it to her in sodium bicarb . However she went 'backwards' having it in her formula (apparantly it doesn't get absorbed as efficiently in the stomach). So we have now been back on the sodium bicarb for approx 10 days & (fingers crossed) she seems to be improving again. Just giving all the medication is exhausting - she is taking Ranitidine, Domperidone & Omeprazole as well as Lactulose to combat her constipation.............that means 10 times / day I am giving her something !!! BUT........as we all know, if it helps, it;s worth the effort!!! In answer to your question, I stopped breastfeeding and she first went onto Nutramigen formula, then onto Neocate. This seems to have helped her too.
